      How to relax legs ?

If i am going to sleep normally its mostly ok. but when iwant to ld or ap, my legs are so excited that they want to run away from me.
Really i can not relax my legs, the constantly are moving, i feel tension inside them, the feel like somebody would inject caffeine into them. i want to kick something very hard.

One way of dealing with it is when i close my fist and literally punch myself very hard into legs, in my muscle zone. and it helps. i feel pain them, and i focus on pain but then i just slepp.

how to relax legs in other, normal way ?
today i tried this relaxation technique - tense them voluntary but it created painful cramp which gone after even more tensing.

Give that a read and see if it describes you.

yes, exactly !! as it would be written by me. everything is correct.

so how to fix it ?
      this:
      Treatment

There is no known cure for restless leg syndrome.

Treatment is aimed at reducing stress and helping the muscles relax. The following techniques may help:

      Gentle stretching exercises

      Massage

      Warm baths
does not help, i tried it someday in past, and i dont want to take any meds, chemical stuff.

do you know some nlp feldenkrais or any mind related stuff which will help ?

(trauma release exercises berceli - it works, but too much time is needed, i am not able to do it during night)

I can't think of anything else. You might check into homeopathic remedies and diet changes. Just don't spend a bunch of money on anything.

Might talk to a doctor or get a referral to someone who has patients who experience it.

As far as I have heard or can tell, RLS is one of those things doctors come up with when they simply don't know what is going on. For a lot of my adolescence I had it HARDCORE all the time, especially when trying to go to bed. I don't remember exactly when it went away, probably when I started smoking a lot of weed. I believe it is simply excess tension stored in your legs. I do tension reduction exercises before I meditate, and one of them is this. Try it and see if it helps? When I do it, I can definitely feel the difference. A lot of my tension seems to go to my legs for some reason. Try doing it one or two times a day for a few days and see what happens.

Step6. Leg Stretch -- Lying down on your back, hold your legs about 4 inches off the ground and stretch outward. Hold this as long as you can and then let them drop (you may want to place a pillow where they'll fall). Repeat 2-3 times.

Hope this helps! If it does, I highly recommend you check out the book Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation by Christopher Hyatt. It's where that exercise and many others can be found, as well as the whole unifying theory behind them.

My doctor likes to say, "If it hurts when you do that then don't do that."

The post about leg stretching is a good suggestion. Yoga and other stretching-related activities might offer help.

The publication I linked earlier does suggest:

Treatment is aimed at reducing stress and helping the muscles relax. The following techniques may help:

      • Gentle stretching exercises

      • Massage

      • Warm baths

So any effort at stretching and relaxing your muscles while awake may help when you attempt AP at night. These techniques and any effort to improve the body's flexibility and strength are always going to be a good idea, even if not for the intention of aiding a sleep condition.

I think I have it too, annoying ain't it? I think it's cause I drink energy drinks which have caffeine in it quite a lot, when at school I have one a day or every other day

Just so you know Fuzzy if you're trying for lucids I'd suggest you stay away from energy drinks most the time. One every once in a while is fine but otherwise it can ruin dream clarity.

As much as I've tried overcoming RLS through will power alone I've failed. I don't think its possible. There might be some medicines or whatever, but I hate pills. Keep looking.

I just roll over. Lying on my back seems to make my legs twitch more. If I've got a really bad night, I'll get up, stretch my legs, go to the bathroom...

I've got it from my dad, apparently.

Neversoft: Have you ever smoked weed, and does it help if so? If not, you should try it, though anyone who hasn't tried weed at this point has probably gone out of their way to do so haha so maybe you don't want to. I don't remember exactly what point in my life my RLS vanished, so I'm curious if that's what did it.

I've found that getting up and touching my toes a dozen times (aka stretching your lower legs) goes a long way to calming restless legs.

I don't know if weed actually helps with RLS, but it definitely helps with the symptoms. Namely, the insomnia associated from all of the leg twitching.

rls is a form of anxiety. I have it pretty bad. look into relaxing herbs and stuff that lowers anxiety (i'm not just talking about weed I know my avatar) and I don't recommend benzos although they will do the trick no doubt.

sadly, a lot of the things that lower anxiety, also hurt your dream recall

You can try tensing your leg muscles for about ten seconds or longer and then suddenly relaxing them. That always works with me.
