Thread: I can't believe I WASN'T dreaming!

Saw a guy the other day running down the street, barefoot, shirtless, wearing some makeshift kilt thing, with a plastic fork stuck behind his ear. Later on saw him rocking out to a band playing in a public square.

Today I was in a large shopping mall close to where I stay which I go to a lot . I go up to the top floor and after having a meal I leave the restaurant and something feels really odd. I take a look around and realize that all the elevators are going in the wrong direction. The ones that usually go up are now going down and vice versa. Do a couple of reality checks and they pass. Stand there for a while just looking around feeling quite bizarre. Go down two levels and then pass a girl wearing a t shirt which on the front says "What is your dream today?" Do more reality checks and they pass.

I went on a vacation to Las Vegas last month, and I saw things that made me think I was dreaming every day

Saw a car today get stuck on the wrong side of the train track crossing gate about 4 cars in front of me (so the view was poor) luckily it was a slow moving commuter tram, and somehow the car didn't get hit. But I shouted <expletive> and did a bunch of RCs.

I brought Crash Bash, a ps1 game today to play with friends on a ps2. He also has a ps3, but I did some research and the internet said that ps2 can play all ps1 games, except for about 15-20 games (not Crash Bash). We put the disc in the ps2 and it didn't work. Strange. A girl said "put it in the ps3" I said that that's impossible, only the original ps3 (costing 600 euro's) can play ps1 games, the new ps3's were like 300 euro and now down to 120 and they can only play ps3 games. I still tried it, and it WORKED. Wtf? I was genuinely surprised. But happy. Then we couldn't get it to work with 4 players. We played with the controller settings, you could set it to analog or digital, and you could set it to 1/ 1a, 1/1b, 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 1a, 2b, 2c, 2d, we tried some stuff and it didn't work, one of the controllers showed two numbers. Normally 1 controller has 1 "number light" burning and it indicates which player you are. So it makes absolutely no sense that 1 controller was 2 players at once. But eventually we just tried some random combinations of controller settings and the amount of players went from 2 to 4. I went from happily surprised to genuinely shocked. I did some calculations, tested gravity, observed my hands, observed my friends' behaviour and it all seemed proper.

A little while ago, I briefly went outside (which I don't often do) at around 06:00 in the morning, with it being just a bit light and overcast with some breeze. I was hit by an unexpected, very surreal feeling and atmosphere that's hard to explain. It felt almost exactly like many of my dreams, particularly LDs, just without the ability to fly. I did several RCs, but everything still looks like waking life as far as I can tell. I went back in and things immediately felt normal again.

Returned home from a (not very long) business trip and found a neighborhood restaurant had been demolished and the lot was completely empty. Took me about 20 seconds before I remembered to RC.

So let me just begin by saying I have not changed my home screen since March.

There is always a picture of my Dad (at Virginia Beach), and one of my Bootsie girl. Haven't changed his since the day he left, hers has been there for years now, since the day I had to leave her with my Mom. I just need to see them everyday...

Anyway,
The other night I turn the thing on to show my friend I don't know what, but as soon as I do I immediately notice the image of my Dad had been replaced by an image of that horse smile he had spotted in the paper while he was in the hospital for bypass surgery:

Thinking to myself, I know I am forgetful, and sometimes I get a bit sauced but STILL, under NO circumstances would I have changed that. Honest to goodness!

That picture of him smiling goes with me everywhere I go, since the day he left. ALWAYS. And yes, I love that horse smile like he did, but yet I would NOT have replaced his image for that one. Not even just for kicks. If anything I would've added it elsewhere, but seriously...

How did it get there first of all, and secondly why that image I wonder...

This thread blew my mind.... I relate to some posts from FryingMan and ~dreamer~ so much that I'm not sure if I'm dreaming or not.

Last year in April i had a month long vacation to Costa Rica, 4 or 5 days into the trip, I was walking along the beach and I see a wild horse galloping in my general direction, so I slow down my pace to not be in it's way. the horse slows to a trot, then stops about 15 feet away from me and starts rolling around on the sand like a dog, all 4 legs up in the air. pic below. Did 15 or so RC's before i convinced myself it wasn't a dream.

I used to cook delicious instant noodle but now it just taste plain. Another one is that I used to love chicken wings but now I get bored of them. I can't believe I wasn't dreaming. :{

Turned lucid some days ago by noticing that a lightswitch didnt work. yesterday i come home and try to turn the light on and it doesnt work at all. go to the next lightswitch and again no light turning on. i do a nosepinch move on to the fuse box and see that everything looks good. i start doubting what is going on and do another RC. i go into the next room and try the lightswitch and after a second or two the energysaving lamp turns on. i am really relieved but do another reality check just to be sure...
the reason was that we have two lightswitches in the hallway and if one is in off mode the other one just dont work... a long time that someone used the "wrong" lightswitch so i just didnt think of it in the first moment... but i really felt scary like "this must be a dream but it dont seems to be but what the heck is going on..."

I just looked out my kitchen window and saw a large van parked across the street. On the side of this van is a life-sized group photo of 7 naked young women (well they were wearing fishnet stockings), turned sideways to the camera, with hands covering their "assets."

I could not find any evidence of a "delivery" phone number on the van, however

When I was in high school, I had a very unsettling experience. My friend and I decided to go on an adventure through the small town we live in and the woods around it. We started off in the woods and as we began, he started ranting about how we were going on a new type of adventure in a different dimension where things are very different. It was all very out of character for him so I started doing some RCs, but I was awake.

The woods we walked through met up with a path, which we followed to a street. As we walked down the street, we noticed a woman on the other side of the street walking her dog in the opposite direction of us. As soon as she noticed us, she stopped dead in her tracks. She changed in a way I will never understand. Her shoulders slumped, her arms hung limply, and her eyes looked glazed over now. But on her face, she wore a look of hatred. My friend and I were both dressed well, clean shaven, and acting respectful, so I was mindblown when this happened. Looking at her literally sent shivers down my spine and perhaps the worst part was that a couple minutes after passing her, she was still staring. We could only think to compare her to a zombie.

Continuing on, we came to a standalone party store. A woman was dismounting her motorcycle as we passed by. The same exact thing happened with her. She turned into a zombie. She stared us down until we were out of sight.

It happened one last time as we came to the elementary school, and that time it was a man. I, of course, was doing RCs the whole time and I will never understand lol

I was in my car about to head to the gym this afternoon when I realized I forgot my almonds in the house (I was going to eat some and some other stuff for lunch before I went into the gym). I went back into the house to grab them and when I came back out, some lady was coming towards my car yelling. She wasn't yelling anything applying to me, but it was directly at me. I just ignored her and got in my and her yelling became louder and more intense. I have lived her for 6 months and that's never happened... nor do those types of people roam these streets.

About a year and a half ago, when I was first starting to lucid dream, I was walking home one day when I saw a ping-pong ball bouncing down the street. I looked for anyone who might have lost it, but there was nobody around but me. I took the ping-pong ball home and started carrying it with me during the day as a reminder to RC whenever I noticed it.

@FinnTheFlobot: That sounds like it could be a scene from Lovecraft or Ligotti.

The other day, I saw a sign in front of the high school that I could have sworn said:
"School Shooter Arriving
"14 November 15"

I was so confused, but I couldn't turn back. A: There is never a sign there, and B: It's nice of the shooter to tell us when they're coming, eh?

Later that day, on the way back, I saw that it actually said:
"Active Shooter Training
"14 November 15"

It was a sign put up by the local police dept.

Lengthy transaction at the teller window in the bank yesterday. I noticed a few folded paper boats made from a pile of bank leaflets sitting there. Hmm, interesting. I look again a little while later, and there are *more* little folded pamphlet boats. Then I glance to the right and the guy at the window on my right is compulsively folding paper boats made from these pamphlets. As soon as he finishes one, he reaches for another pamphlet and begins folding another one. As I moved to another window to complete my business, I see him still standing there and still folding....RC RC RC ...

Browsing political stuff on the 'net I came across a wikipedia article on the 1953 Iranian coup, and saw some wording mentioning that the CIA in 2013 admitted to both planning and running the coup. I clicked on the footnotes to see what the cited sources were and one was this:

I worked in a warehouse some time back and I was heading to the main hallway from the office spaces. Now there was this salesman in the office who I didn't really know, so I sure didn't know what his text message pop-up sound was either. I leave the office space, turn my head to the hallway, and look down to the floor in front of me. I freeze, and just then the salesman gets a text message as I'm being stared down by a little mouse in the middle of the hallway. This is pretty much what the text message pop-up sounded like just as I faced the strange little invader.

Spoiler for Wait? am I dreaming?:

1. Getting a phone call from one of our neighbors that one of the houses that we owned at the time was getting broken into, in 2010. Before we called the police, we decided to go over to the house to check it out. Don't try this at home kids. Did RC but, it was real. When we got there, the guy was still in the house. Then he noticed the truck and ran out of the front of the house and down the street. He didn't get very far, though because he was chased down with a wooden mallet and held before the cops arrived. It was all too real. He was going to sell the stuff to a scrap shop for cash. We had to replace all the water systems in the downstairs walls and everything. That was a real nightmare.

2.There was this one time when I was in the garage when a lightbulb that was in a ceiling light fixer popped right out of it and landed right on a blue tarp right next to my brother. I was like, "Am I dreaming?" But, no! I took a picture of the half light bulb. Wait.... Am I dreaming now??

Today. * On a break from work, chilling in my cell apartment ( I live alone even though there is room for 4 people ). * " Mrhmm... might as well check what's on the television, no time for anything else... H-.. Huh ?? This... this isn't my television!" My television had literally shrunk to half of it's size, it was a completely different model all of a sudden. Confused and reality checking I go to see if it is moved to the other room. " H- Huh?? My keys won't work to the lock anymore!" Reality cheeeeeeck!

The janitor had switched the television to another model while I was elsewhere. I forgot that I had added a new key to my chain just today and it's identical to the previous one.

Was driving home last night from the movies and happened to look in the rear mirror. Some weirdo behind me was driving in a very wide squiggle pattern, sort of going off road and on the other side of the driving lane. After I made a turn, I had to do a reality check! (Safely, of course - I wasn't going to test the limits while driving.)
