Lightbulb My first SP (LD) attempt.

So I'm new at this. i heard about lucid dreaming in the beginning of this week and did a lot of research. as it turns out, i have had a couple of lucid dreams as a kid. (one when i was 4-5 and another one when i was about 10-12) so now i know i have experienced it but never on purpose. the idea of being able to induce it and be in control of it really amuses me.

Last night when i went to sleep i laid on my back with my face facing the ceiling. closed my eyes and repeated to myself out loud "tonight i will see a dream, I will be aware that i'm dreaming and everything that's going on is in my own hands. When i wake up i will remember everything there is to remember" about 20 or more times. (i said all that in estonian, my native language)

that was just me trying to get my mind set for what's coming. after having repeated all that for a while i tried to induce sleep paralysis. I focused my eyes on the area in the middle of my forehead slightly above my eyes (which were actually closed) and tried not to move at all and i think i was pretty successful. It was really hard not to move though, i really wanted to, but didn't let myself do it. then...

i started seeing shapes before my eyes but i didn't notice anything abnormal yet. another couple of minutes went by and suddenly i felt as if my body became really light. At exactly the same moment, it got a lot lighter before my eyes (as if someone turned the light on). at first i saw kind of like a little tunnel of even brighter light than the background, then i started seeing colourful rays of light randomly coming from and shooting at all directions. So i tried to take control by visualising a scene of a calm plain with a big old oak tree and blue sky above. i tried to go into more detail. the picture before my eyes was pretty clear. I saw and heard bees flying around and stuff...

Suddenly i got distracted because i remembered i had forgotten my phone in the other room so i hadn't set an alarm for the morning. so everything i had seen was gone. the feeling i had was something i'd never experienced before though.
after setting my alarm i tried again, but couldn't focus like that anymore.

Thoughts? was i getting close to something?
is the body position important when doing this - can you do it also laying on your side for example?
or with the head facing the wall instead of the ceiling?
Sadly, i didn't remember anything about my dream(s) in the morning :/
      any suggestions? similar experiences?

EDIT: can i delete or replace a thread i have created? i think this thread might fit better in the general lucid discussion forum?

those colors objects and rays are called hypnagogic imagery, and they're the foundations of your dreams, that tunnel of light was probably you entering the dream! You were SUPER close!
I imagine body position is important, a few LD inducing techniques require you being on your back, but I'm not entirely sure.

Also, you could probably get a mod/admin to move you thread to the other section.

I find that this method works with any body position. I have had a lot of lucid dreams from lying on my side or my belly. I think you could easily use whatever position is most comfortable to you.

You managed to get all these sensations with your first attempt? You seem to have some serious talent, you should keep practicing without a doubt. Just remember to remind yourself that the only thing you need to focus on is the dream and lucidity, nothing else matters (just don't think about like, schoolwork/work/other things that you're meant to be worried about). Well done anyways, good luck in the future, no, good skills !
