      Dream Recall

I finally have decided that I do need help with this. You see I usually have fantastic dream recall, I can usually remember up to four dreams a night for weeks without writing a single detail down (don't worry I do write them down, it's just an example of a time when I forgot but still remembered the dreams). But as of late, like one or two weeks ago maybe more that my dream recall has gone so far downhill that I can't even remember my dreams.

I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

It comes and goes. Try taking a multivitamin; it can help. You could also try affirmations before bed. Also try des-tressing before bed: hot bath, hot drink, etc. Being calm at bedtime can assist with dreaming, including recall. If you already do this stuff, I would just relax and let the dreams come back. They should eventually.

I do, do those things except for taking a vitamin. I'll try taking a vitamin and then see if my recall gets better.

I've observed that my recall fluctuates along a sort of sine curve: increases, peaks, declines, hits bottom, increases, peaks, etc. Up and down, up and down, over and over. So I've stopped worrying about recall performance (and worrying about recall performance is a good way to keep it poor).

Also, see my FryingMan's Dream Recall Tips, maybe you'll see something you're not doing yet.

A mega multi-vitamin can help, in case you're deficient in something. Once I take them for a few days in a row I find no difference in dreaming until I stop for a week or so, in which case recall *may* get a bit weaker (again depending on how good your general nutrition is). I find they only can help if conditions are otherwise close to ideal. The badness of being tired or stressed or anxious about dreaming/sleeping performance trumps the goodness of the vitamins (and other good things, so work to get rid of the bad things!)

It happens to me and it's frustrating. I expect every morning to remember at least one dream, sometimes I write down even two, but sometimes I can't remember anything at all

The good news is that with steady, diligent practice, dream journaling, training yourself to notice several wakings per night (this can be a great way to kickstart recall even if you don't keep it up all the time [it's tiring over a long period of time]), and paying attention to life when awake, the average level of dream recall and the experience of the average dream improves over time. So the typical "lows" in the future will be much better than now. And the highs will be mind-blowing

Hey there. I, too, sometimes can't recall anything so you're not alone! Thanks for the post as I'm going to take advantage of the answers and try to improve my recall.

Fryingman is right. A month ago I posted a similar thread, but now im in a peak. Ive had some incredible dreams these past weeks. Id say the msot important thing is keeping the journal. even if you think you dont need it, writing down the dreams helps. Dont stress about dreams - just let them come, as they do every night, and notice them. Sweet dreams
