      I'm no longer making progress

well ive spent 162 days on my dream recall. at about 120 days it was at its best. but now ive gone on close to a one month streak were my recall just died. i feel like it is the same as it was when i started or even worse. i have no clue what happened but i just cant remember anything any more. i feel like ive wasted all my time trying to get my recall better as im back where i started nearly half a year ago. i need help i have no clue what i did wrong or why what happened happened.

Dream recall, as well as lucidity as a whole, is a rather slippery skill. When you first start on it, even if you do every single method and work consistently and intensely at it, you may not even get any results. Along with that, your effectiveness at this skill can fluctuate at times. Sensei described it as a sort of way to see everything you do in the skill as "percentages" for the next night's chance of doing well in it. For example, if you don't move upon waking up, that's +20% of remembering most of the dreams. WBTB? +15% (Note: the percentages I put here are simply an example and are fake). In this case, because you're frustrated day after day, your accumulating less chances of remembering the dreams which produces a dry spell, all because one night chances just occurred that everything you did didn't amount to much results.

What is for certain though, is that if you keep going it will surely produce results. I guess you could say the more you remember, the more confident and experienced you are which adds up as bonus percentages to remembering the next dreams. But recalling dreams will never be 100%, as some of the most experienced lucid dreamers still forget some now and then, and some even go on dry spells similar to yours.

Let out all the irritation you have and just keep doing what you do. It'll come eventually.

      Hope that helped.

I have been practicing lucid dreaming for at least seven years, and I had/have lots of dry spells and ups and downs in dream recall and lucid dream frequency. These things happen.
Try not to stress about it. It's ok to take a break. Sometimes that helps. Your dream recall will likely come back.
      It's all in your head.

Are you doing anything differently that might be affecting it? Do you have a ritual you do before bed?

If don't have a dream journal, you should start doing that, since that helps a lot. Then when you are using it, make sure you write down everything. Including thoughts, feelings, impression, and even minor details that you might not think matter much.

Some times you might not remember anything but even if all you have is a vague impression or feeling that is enough, and when you focus on it and write it down you can start recalling other stuff as well.
