Edgar allen Poe was a dreamer...

Take this kiss upon the brow!

And, in parting from you now,

      Thus much let me avow:

You are not wrong who deem

      That my days have been a dream;

Yet if hope has flown away

In a night, or in a day,

In a vision, or in none,

Is it therefore the less gone?

All that we see or seem

Is but a dream within a dream.

      I stand amid the roar

      Of a surf-tormented shore,

And I hold within my hand

      Grains of the golden sand--

How few! yet how they creep

Through my fingers to the deep,

      While I weep--while I weep!

O God! can I not grasp

      Them with a tighter clasp?

O God! can I not save

      One from the pitiless wave?

Is all that we see or seem

But a dream within a dream?

The worst mistake you can make is to think you're alive when you're really asleep in lifes waiting room.

That's one of the more famous poems I think by Edgar Allen Poe. Shoot, I even heard that quote in a jungle track by Aquasky, years ago: "...all that we see or seem, is but a dream, within a dream". Man, I loved that track... If I find it online I'll post a link to it.

Indeed, a lot of his poetry is about dreaming. If you read through his poems, you'll notice.

Poe rocks. Some more famous quotes -

"All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. "

"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. "

      Many others.

Wait a second.. You guys don't know the secret to most of Edgar Allen Poe's stories?

He drank some alchol, smoked some opium, slept for a couple of hours, woke up, and wrote his dream. From his dream he created his story.

I love Poe's poems. They have such an eerie, dreamlike ring to them, especially the Raven.

Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the very toes he is terrified, Because the ground gives the way under him, And the dream begins... - Friedrich Nietzsche
