Really insane dream and night terror help?

Last night I had some kind of crazy trip of some sort but I know for SURE I was up. It was around like 1:00 Am when i went to bed and most likely 30 minutes later I woke up from a nightmare and I felt like something was in the room when there wasn't. I felt like something invisible was sitting next to me getting into my mind and there was something in the other room..I was in the living room sleeping looking into the dark family room yelling into it.

I had to turn on the TV for me to snap out of it but it didn't work I felt like something is there and I even saw something in the darkness moving around..I was really scared . Can anyone help me? Then it happened three times in a row..if it was a night terror I remembered every bit of it. Also when one of those times I woke up my hand was numb for like five minutes. Can anyone suggest why this happened? It was really intense.

It was probably a night terror, if it was recurring as you say. The only other explanation I can think of is panic, which can definitely overwhelm you if given the chance. Once you start to get scared at night your adrenaline shoots up, causing strange side effects.

It probably won't happen again, though.

Are you absolutely SURE that it wasn't a false awakening? I have many of these a month; one of my most recent ones included me seeing a girl being beated to death in my room by an intruder. Horrified, I ran and turned on my light switch to fend off the intruder, only to find that nobody was in my room.

You see the effects a false awakening can have? It was a dream, but it took place in my room. Nothing was out of place or funny, making me think that I was actually awake. Could that have happened with you?

I know you said you know for sure you were up, but everyone else that replies will mention false awakenings, so I might as well be the first.
