Waking life fails in comparison to my dream life

Since making a dream diary and getting better at recollection, I've slowly been getting more and more upset with my real life and just wishing i was in a dream so something better could happen.

I've yet to have a lucid dream, but when i do, i will be able to do what ever i want in my dream world, when i wake up from my first one, i can just see myself becoming utterly depressed with my waking life.

Does anyone else feel like this? Does it pass after a while or am i destined to waking up annoyed with my life?

The wise reaction would be to ask yourself "now, how do I become lucid in my waking life?"

If your waking life is not fulfilling, it is because you are not really all that awake. It is possible to not be in control or be in control of your waking life to the same extent that it is possible in your dreams. You are only destined to wake up annoyed with your life for as long as you do nothing to change it.

What Xaqaria said. Also, I find that when the frequency of my LDs increases, my overall enthusiasm for life in general increases. One does not detract from the other. At least not for me personally. If you're getting bored or depressed with your waking life, you probably need to spend some time figuring out what makes you happy and what you can do to feel more fulfilled. Your life is not a video game or movie that you just blindly play out a character in. You create it yourself! Your life is only what you make it.

      Excellent replies everyone!

I am an escapist. My dreams are so much better than life which is why I have paid attantion to them ALL my life (my earliest recalled dream was at about the age of 4 and I'm 35 now).
I feel powerless, directionless, bored, apathetic (at times), and UN-freagin-DISCIPLINED in my waking life.
In my dreams, I'm the hero, a creator or worlds, an intellect and suprememly emapthetic.
In my waking life, I lack the drive to physically aquire such attributes.

I just have to keep reminding myself:

YOU HAVE 24 HOURS TO LIVE

      ...in one day

I'm trying to gain a new hold on life by remembering that life is, indeed, often what we make of it.
Perhaps you could remind yourself of something similar? We get out of life what we put into it.
