Are you sure you understand difference between awareness and alertness?

Pracrising.awareness is simply becoming aware of something all the time. Alertness is when you feel like your senses are boosted. When you try to become aware of everything at once you tend push yourself to bee too alert that you cant maintain it trough day. So practising awareness is to paying attention what you are experiencing.

Self awareness is you becoming aware of basically everything little by little. As you are paying attention to yourself you should become aware how repetead your thoughts are, how you emotions feel and when and where, how you mind have difference amounts of alertness trough out the day, different amounts of wakefulness, how you hear sounds, noticing something new in your vision.... While you practise self awareness you notice new stuff about you which means you have become aware of something.
So if you are pushing yourself to be alert trough out the day its really excausting and you cant do it. You just need to be aware one thing about you at a time what you are experiencing and if you notice something new you just became more aware. The idea isnt to be notice everything at once but trying to be aware of something to notice difference in you. It could be becoming aware views on life, you belief, how your body feel like it simply can be anything. At some point your self awareness is so great that you can decide to do something for next 30 days and you do it since you are aware if your are up for it or not. Every decision becomes conscious decision since you know how everything will affect you.

Interesting read! For day time work, I ask myself questions like, "Where am I?" or, "What am I going to do next?" or, "What was I doing a while ago?" I think this would be considered self awareness, wouldn't you say?

Thank you for posting this! It's made me more aware of the difference.

Being aware is simply that you observe. Nothing to do with questiong allthough questions come when you learn something new. Just look at everything as if you trying to learn whats going on and you are beign aware. Its simply being more open. You never figure anything out if just think about things you need to just look around into your thoughts, emotions, sensations and your state of mind. While you are just looking you notice and learn. Distance yourself from your thought and try to see where they came from and why. Follow the pattern of your thinking and notice how you see visuals in your mind when you think. You dont have to figure anything out or do anything to be aware you just need to observe what you are experiencing.
