Dream cartography. Is it so powerful?

I've found realy nice book. It's about Lucid Dreaming and it's main method to attain lucidity is dream cartography.

P.S. Authors of this book are so called "Dream Hackers" and they always rely on Carlos Castaneda. (I googled a lot and I found out that Carlos is famous for his "hands" method, but they don't even mention it in a book)

So, according to them, cartography is realy strong method while trying to achieve LD. They explain, that drawing the map of your dream will result in sudden "Enlightment", sudden remembering of HUGE AMOUNT OF dreams. Than almost your every dream will become Lucid Dream, because you will be well aware of differences between dreaming and waking worlds (places you visit, your senses, etc.)

I have DJ with about 100 dreams (A lot of them are described realy poorly, like, only dialogs, events and no enviroment description). I started drawing my map and it became quite big. I was shocked how every dream is related to another and that I always take same traveling routes from place to place. My map hangs on my wall and whenever I look at him I remember all of the recorded dreams in an instant. I realy hope that I will feel that "enlightment".

So, guys, after reading a bunch of text... What do you think about this cartography thing?
      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.

      Sounds interesting.
Could you give the name of the book?

Sounds cool!, i wounder if actually creating your dream map would be better tho like with a 3D animator program or a game like Garrys mod. Minecraft do u think that would work the same way?

so do you draw a map like the map of the world with countries and territories? or just try to draw a bunch of the landscapes that your dreams are in?

Hmm... Exactly how would this map be constructed? Different islands with all kinds of dream themes, or different words and emotions which will be in circles that overlap eachother? Please draw a picture

Purebred, what do you mean when you say map of your dreams. Do you mean you physically draw a map of locations in your dreams? Looking at the few dreams I have recorded that I remembered locations in, most of them were discontinuous. The landscape changed, or the architecture was spatially impossible.

If you were willing to share a picture of your "dream map" that would be great!

Edit: http://magic-su.net/eng/firstgate/ Is this what you were talking about?

      how to draw it?

as i see it, i would draw events that occure in my dreams and draw lines beetwen them how they are connected. didn't actualy think of drawing places... i don't see how that is in any way powerfull sence events effect you more then places you know...

This is a cool idea. I like the idea of trying to make a map of an entirely dynamic terrain.

I have a lot big pieces of paper glued together with buildings, forests, roads, other places drawn all over them. Thanks to your link I've found that nice software for dream map creation. I have to admit, I don't understand a thing in it xD and as I read a little bit of information given I didn't understand anything either. I hope I will get it when I will be fully rested. Btw, Mr. Izrigi is one of the book's author.

I think a big dry erase board would be a good investment for this sort of thing.

Yeah. Have to admit that, because that kind of software doesn't look very attracting.

I did this once. It's pretty fun until you've been mapping dream after dream for a couple hours.

      http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...aphy2001-1.jpg

I'm planning on starting a new one though, since I can't edit that old one anymore. It's going to be bigger.

I would love to read that book, by the way (time to learn Russian).

I don't speak Russian too. It's translated into Lithuanian. Pretty nice map you've got there. Mine is so messed up, but it's good as long as you understand something.

i found this out a long time ago, and wrote a thread on it, but i didnt know much about it so didnt take it further, just an observation. basicly in my thread i talked about how i noticed my dreams took place in similar settings, and i knew where each place was in relation to eachother, and by remembering some places i would remember the places closer to them, and consequently i would remember a ton of dreams i had forgoten. except in my thread i made it longer and more confusing than it had to be, should work on that lol. but anyway, how does this help become lucid, i guess it can be a dream sign but im not sure how well it would work, if anyone finds out tell me.

I mapped my dream from today so we shall see if it has any effect. It really made me realize how different my dream world is from the waking world. I'll post back in the morning.

Also KEEP IT CIVIL AND ON TOPIC IN HERE.

Yes, Like I said, I was shocked too. Roades, places, forests, they always appear in the same place, but in the different one cmparing to real life.

      THAT WAS ONE DREAM?!?!

I'd already known you were good, but to be able to remember that is REALLY impressive.

Oh, ewll either way, to be able to map them is impressive, my dreams seem too random in location to map, but i'll try anyway. Thank you and the person who made this thread for the idea.

Queen Zukin, did it help you in any way? Attaining lucidity, remembering old dreams or improving dream recall?

I tried to make a map few times before, but I'm not patient enough, I get irritated every time something doesn't coincide. And places that are supposed to stay always change, so I don't know where to put them...I know it's supposed to be like that and it should take some time until some connections appear and it looks like an actual map...I need more patience

Hmmm... I might try this. I already know a few recuring places in my dreams and where some of them connect to. Actually, most of the places I go to are an altered version of my own city or altered version of fictional places. Many common things often happen in certain areas as well which sometimes helps me gain lucidity. Maybe if I draw a map I'll be even more likely to notice when I'm dreaming.
