      Becoming Lucid with Catastrophic Results

The full dream is my latest entry to my dream journal, but I'll let you have the quick version.

There was a plane crash as soon as I realised I was dreaming.

There was a lot of dreaming up until this point, which was non-lucid. I just enjoyed it and went along with it, as you do in an unintended natural dream. However, at one point I wasn't really doing anything other than walking and feeling sad about a past event, which is not important (if you read my DJ you'd know the point I'm up to) to the plane crash, but the doing nothingness brought the slightest flicker of lucidity into my mind. I thought about it for a second, when the crash occured. It gave me quite a fright, and I ended the dream.

So it seems, that as soon as the idea of lucidity came to me mid-dream, something bad happened. Is this coincidence? Or has anyone else experienced similar things?

I'd say it's a coincidence, it's your first lucid, right? If it happens again, then it might be something else. Of course, if your lucid you can change it.
(Shouldn,t this be in Lucid experiences or General lucid discussion?)

I would also lean toward coincidence. If something happens only once, it's important that you not jump to conclusions. For example, if I see an apple in a lucid and I wake up. I might conclude that apples make me wake up in dreams, and this very conclusion leads to a self-fullfilling prophecy where I actually DO wake up every time I see an apple. A better idea is to set aside this one experience as coincidence for now, and see what happens in the future.

Leaning towards coincidence as well. It was probably just the dream being played out, as long as you're not having plane crash dreams every night o_O
