      My dreams are like movies

(i hope this is the right section for this thread)

When I dream, I ,often if not almost always, dream in third person, and sometimes the dream includes me only marginally, like I am just the audience for what it's happening (see for instance the first entry of my dream journal).
This keeps me from lucid dreaming because when I dream, not being in first person or even not appearing in my dreams, I don't have the opportunity to reality check.
Is there any way I could possibly avoid this? I tried to repeat during the day the mantra "I am the lead of my dreams", but I don't know if it can help....
      Suggestions?

So you are viewing your dreams from a 3rd person point of view correct? You still have a dream body weather you dont find yourself in your dreams or not. And with this dream body you can perform reality checks. FIRST, you must become slightly aware of the fact that you are dreaming. Practice more on your dream signs so you will be able to pick them out in your dreams and then perform a reality check.

I hate those dreams. They are interesting, but don't provide many openings to become lucid.

Increasing your awareness during the day should help with this. Try to remind yourself to live in the moment. Pay attention to yourself and your surroundings during the day. Hopefully this will carry over into your dreams to help you be more present.

Thanks for the answers I'll try practice with ADA, tough I know it's pretty hard... Anyway I had and idea yesterday: my mantra "I am the lead of my dreams" wasn't very effective because I couldn't visualize well the concept in my mind, so I changed it to "I dream as I live", and today I had a mostly first person dream
