Question How vivid are Lucid Dreams?

Just a quick question, How vivid are Lucid Dreams?

Are they as if you're re-living a memory in your head? (So kind of faded and distant)

or are they like waking reality? Like as if you're not really sleeping at all, and you're just awake in some crazy world?

This question has plagued my mind for a while now, And I just wanted to know how vivid lucid dreams are for you.

Well, it is like a normal dream which is much like reality in the sense that you walk around and experience things like you do normally, these experiences are created by your brain from pure memory and expectations and feel extremely real.
But when you become lucid YOU can decide what to do and what to experience.

So it is like living in another reality for a limited time each time you become lucid. It's not like you are "imagining" it, if that's what you mean.

Well it just depends on your lucid dream basically. My first lucid dream was amazingly vivid, it just seemed more real then reality. I was so surprised to be honest. But I've had two other lucid dreams and they were quite blurry and vague. So it depends

Fair enough, Might just be an observation but were they your wild attempts? (2 wild attempts for 2 blurry dreams)

Crashy, careful with using "more real than reality", I know we have a few people on the forums that mind that. And honestly, it isn't true either, since reality is the most real you can get. Meaning if the dream is INSANELY vivid, you're further from reality again, in a sence. You know what I mean? Also, you sure you did enough stabilizing to actually make the dream as vivid as possible? There's a lot of tricks to make it better

To stay on topic though, I find my lucid dreams to be more vivid than a normal dream in the sense that hey are clearer and allow more thought and input from me. I also remember details better, but I don't remember my dreams nearly as well as waking life

@Kruse I said it seemed more real then reality, I didn't say it was I couldn't stabilize my dream properly because my first lucid only lasted for about 5 seconds or so. I was just surprised how vivid it was :p

A properly stablized lucid dream is a very vivid one. To me it feels even "more real" than waking life. On whatever you focus on , you can see the tiniest detail.

Yeah, as people have already said, lucid dreams can feel as real as reality, in fact, false awakening type of lucid dream start can replicate whatever place you fell asleep at very vividly and in every detail.

Let me just put it this way, my last LD felt so real I had to do a reality check twice. I watched my fingers pass through my palm and then I had to do it again because I could not believe how "real" it was.

When people say LD is more real then reality itself what they mean is your attention to detail is heightened. For example, lets say your staring at a plastic bottle in real life, it will simply seem like a plastic bottle and nothing special about it. Now lets say your staring at a plastic bottle in a LD, every detail about the bottle will pop out, like the grooves around the cap, the glare of the light pressing on the plastic, the condensation on the outside of the bottle. Its like your passively paying attention to all detail, that's why it feels more real then reality. Try focusing on the details of one object, now imagine effortlessly noticing this level of detail in everything around you simultaneously.

Yes, this description sums up the reason behind the feeling well! Also, the knowledge that it is your own brain that has created what you see makes it at least a hundred times more fascinating, resulting in you staring like an idiot at objects you might not even pay attention to in your every day life. Luckily, no one else can see you when you're doing this!

When my lucid dreams are unstable, it is as if everything around me is painted with watercolour and, as I move around, nothing seems to be solid or completely still. When these dreams are stable, however, it is hard not to stop and stare at every incredible, vivid detail and touch things. I remember a particularly vivid lucid, where I was in my old living room, looking at a Christmas tree and feeling the tinsel...

Sometimes it is blurry, sometimes crazy vivid. And sometimes it freals you out that it is actually a dream because of how insanely real it is. I think that having good recall increases vividness when in. In most of my normal dreams I am in complete control and when I try to think 'where am I?' My mind comes up with a past that makes me really believe it and I do not question reality at all.

For most of my dreams, after I stabilize them, they match reality and sometimes surpass it!
