      What was this?

Hi guys I am very new to the world of lucid dreaming. Started trying to get lucid in about 3 weeks ago, i keep a dream journal and write everyday, and I perform several RC's through the day, this is just fine. I am very interested in the WILD method and been trying to get success with it. I wanted to tell you guys about something that happend to me a few days ago: I was trying to WILD in my bed, been laying still and relaxed for maybe 20-30 minutes. Then I lost consciousness and was not sure if I fell asleep for a few seconds, then suddenly it happened: I felt like my back was lifted up slowly and were on its way to a sitting position and i had this ``machine sound`` in my head (i could see my bed room around me). Then i heard my brother doing something in the room next to me IRL and i woke up laying in the bed the same way as when i started. What was this? maybe OBE or lucid dream?? It was kind of scary but nice at the same time, i had no fast heartbeating.

Thanks guys for reading this, if some one out there now what i could be?

I'd appreciate any answers or feedback Thanks

      Hello,

I have got the same things quite a few times, for me it's just in my head... because i only focus on my mind, and then when i fall asleep my body just generates random feelings i guess... and also the feeling that u get lifted is because u are at the edge of falling asleep.. thats what i think

It's clear that you have never been lucid in a dream.

The sensations can feel very real. Also, I (me personally) think that OBE's and AP are just different kinds of dreams, but just dreams nonetheless. So i wouldn't worry too much about it if you got the same "I don't believe in anything supernatural" kinda attitude most of us "northerners" tend to have.

I think the problem is that WANT TO believe and, YOU WANT answers that say: yesss that is the beginning of a LD... yesssss its an OBE... i dont want to give u false hope.. but i just dont think its an OBE or LD related..

Lucid dreaming for a few seconds before waking up from the sound of your brother in the room next to you?

I can hear binaural beats from my headphones(which i am using for relaxation for WILD) at the beginning part of lucid dream(and sometimes through it), so it's not all that weird to hear something from IRL in the lucid dream, in my opinion . So i pretty much agree with Niku there, also it's called false awakening, and it happens pretty often at the start of the WILD.

Some people might think that this is a OBE, I personally think it is a dream or perhaps sleep paralysis (since you mention about the machine sound). If you realised you're dreaming when you sat up in your dream, you're lucid.

Sounds like a combination of IRL disturbances, SP, half LD/half non-LD dream and then waking up?

And pretty much what Carrot said about the "machine sound", which is something I usually hear when entering SP while still being awake. So it might aswell have been caused from the SP during sleep. x . x

Good luck in lucid dreaming, it's super fun. : 3

I was there too, everyone is to some degree really.
But to help you on your way - Lucid dreams WILL come if you work hard and trink about it alot, in the process of doing that you will "re-wire" your brain into a higher state of dream-awareness.
And it's really just a matter of time before it will happen to you too. I spent a month before i had mine, and up to that point i really didn't believe in it, but when it happened, i was blow away.

So, this should give you a boost of confidence.

Keep at it and post your dream in here WHEN it happens.

IMO you transitioned into a lucid and you were woken up by your brother the second you got into one :/

I would call it a clear case of hypnogogic hallucinations (HH)

HH also called HI happens when you are on the verge of sleep, in a half awake and half asleep stage. It can involve any number of weird experiences. The most common are hearing things, feeling vibrations or heat, a felling of floating or spinning, and seeing colors moving around. HH can get intense and may involve weirder things then the most common ones. It can involve seeing faces, hearing very detailed music, hearing someone call your name and so on.

Reaching HH is a great sign that you are getting close to falling asleep while aware, which is what WILD is all about.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
