Been years since Ive had a Lucid Dream

As a kid remember having a few lucid dreams, but as an adult i havent had one. This is now about 30 years later. Last night, I used an app on my ipad that would help queue beeps for dreaming and help me out. My mind was racing so much that I found it difficult to even try to sleep. Once I turned it off, I had another app that I used and I felt myself falling asleep pretty quickly. All the while, I was focusing to remember that I am in a dream and kept saying that to myself. Next thing I know.. Im dreaming, but of course.. I dont realize it. I wake up about an hour later remembering in full detail what I was dreaming.

      Here's the weird part...

When I woke up I thought to myself, "I want to go into the dream knowing it's a dream" and my thoughts were exactly that.. "I WILL DREAM AGAIN AND REMEMBER IM IN A DREAM!" I thought that loudly. And when I did, my eyes were closed and just like that it looked like I was being sucked right back into the dream, but still falling asleep. Weird? It was like I was border line on sleep and consciousness. Instead of fulling going, i pulled back and my heart was racing and I felt exhausted.

      Thoughts?

Hi and welcome! I don't think it's weird, seems rather common to me. I just wanted to say that while technology may be a nice tool, you should not rely upon it completely for becoming lucid. Rather use it when you have made an effort to stable dream recall and when you have build the right mindset for it. Your 'mind was racing' means that the necessary excitement about LDing is definitely there, which is a good thing!

You say 'Im dreaming, but of course.. I don't realize it', that tells a lot about your current expectations towards having an LD, and your expectation is an important factor. If you'd like to work on that, I can recommend the Intro Class of the DV Academy, check it out
It doesn't matter whether this is a dream or not.
      It's a beautiful gift anyways!
