      My First Two Lucid Awakenings?

So I've decided to get these out of my mind and share the first two and only times I have woken myself up in a dream. I have been trying to attain lucidity with no luck for about a month now but lets go back a couple months ago when I discovered what lucid dreaming was.
I was browsing Youtube videos when I came across one of Vsauses videos titled "Why Do We Dream?" I was interested in this and I decided to watch a few more videos on it. That night I tried to have a lucid dream and I had a nightmare. I was running through an old highway which seemed to be in after war destruction. A group of people on motorbikes started chasing me and firing shots at me and I ran and hid as best as I could. I ended up finding an old drainage pipe that I crawled inside of to hide and I listened for the sounds of bikes to pass me. When I started hearing them they stopped right beside my pipe and looked around. This is when I became conscience and told myself to wake up.
The second time that I was able to wake myself up was a bit less detailed. All I remember about my dream was looking up at the sky from a house that I grew up in and instead of clear and blue, the sky was a deep purple and black with fire and smoke filling the air. I told myself this was not right and immediately woke up.

Hey Mewtwo, love the userrname! Congrats on the lucids!

I've heard of a lot of people that have had their first lucid dreams from nightmares. It's funny, you would think you'd be less aware in a nightmare since you're so caught up in it.

Yeah, when I first joined I saw yours too and kinda regretted not trying Gengar or Hypno, something a bit more related but thanks.

      Congrats on the lucids!

It's funny because the first lucid I had in which I was able to control the dream before waking up was also a nightmare. I was also being chased after and I realised I was dreaming when I was hiding, because I noticed I couldn't run and this only happens in dreams.
