You are getting veeery sleepy ...

Here's an idea for the advanced lucid dreamer. It has not been tested by me yet (and I'm not sure, that I'm adequately advanced yet either).

Premise: you wish to change something about yourself

Idea: the change should be brought about through hypnosis

Twist: use a DC hypnotherapist to hypnotise you during a lucid dream

Who knows, maybe it works really well compared to ordinary hypnosis.

Incidentally ... try to avoid using a megalomaniac DC, bent on world domination, and disguised as a hypnotherapist.
      NyxCC and MasterControl like this.
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

Why not do it yourself? Project your conciousness onto the dream and then deal with whatever you want to change personally? I do that regularly for experiments already.
And sounds better than trying to figure out who isn't the megalomaniac DC lol

Actually, I think setting the stage in a formal manner with a hypnotherapist may be very useful, if you plan on having multiple "changes" to yourself implemented over time. Instead of having to reinvent a new aproach every time, it would be simply a matter of popping in to your (very) local hypnotherapist for a relaxing session. Multiple visits would probably strengthen the effect.

But if it were only to be a one-off, then I tend to agree with you.

Hmm I guess I'm already accustomed to the other way?
It is a difficult thing, so if it were to fail the first time due to schema that would make it harder rather than easy IMO. Also how long would it take? Dunno, probably I just like to have control over these matters.

So, have you tried it yet?

I haven't tried it, because my lucids these days are unstable and short. I think the massive amount of light during the night is hampering my lucid dreaming chances (up here in Scandinavia it doesn't really get dark at all at night during summer - except on really overcast nights).

Oh, do you use a sleep-mask? I find that my lucids are slightly unstable when there is too much light but generaelly the sleep mask fixes it to some degree.

Yes, I sometimes use a sleep mask, but only in the second part of the night in an WBTB-effort. My experience is similar to yours; wearing a sleep mask helps to some extent.

The other thing that works for me is covering myself on something black, because really... winter here makes things go weird for dreams.
