Thumbs up Help remembering childhood dreams

Sometimes I get into this weird fuzzy state where I feel like I am half here and half not here(if that makes any sense) and I start seeing small parts of dreams I had when I was very very young. They are all images that are very hard to articulate, and are very fantastical. I want to know if anyone has any techniques they have used to recall more details from dreams already had? I'm going to try to meditate on the images, but I am afraid of coming up with details that didn't actually happen, as my mind can wander easily.
I will try to tell you about one image I saw, but it will be sort of vague and strange so bare with me.
It's a sort of medieval castle very large and old looking, made of redish grey tattered bricks. Bright vines cover lots of the walls, and there are many layers and decks to the castle. There is a portal that reminds me of a mirror on the bottom floor of the outside deck. The portal is a pink blue and green swirly mess, very bright and sparkling almost. A very beautiful woman is about to enter it. She has long blonde hair which glows, she is dressed in a pink and blue gown. I then remember entering the portal as if I were the woman, but I am also watching her at the same time. A flash of light, I feel like I went somewhere after but all I can see is white. I know the portal led somewhere and I can almost see an image of where it went but it's very vague! Just a blurry mess of green, I feel like I met someone on the other side of the portal. Also, this is my first post! Feels good man!

I know what you mean, thats what im afraid of too^^

A reliable technique would be to ask you as many questions as you can, for example : "was it warm ? was it bright ? how did i feel ? what did i think ? what happenend before ?..." and if you are absolutely sure of something write it down(very important, only then!). Step by step u can recall old dreams like that, but youŽd have to be patient to avoid making something up. Especially if it is still very vague.

Smart! I didn't think of all the information I would be getting from it, just been focusing on the images. Now that I focus on other senses I think I can piece a little bit more of the puzzle together. I've spent a good amount of time writing down all the things I was sure of in these moments, but also some things I was not sure about at all. Why do you think I should only write down the parts I am very certain of? I'm thinking if I write down things that might have happened it could spark my memory later upon reading it. Thanks for your advice, it's greatly apreaciated!

If you can manage it, it is ok to write things/ideas down about what might have happened. The only danger i see there is that your mind will start very fast to make things up and in the same time give you the illusion that it actually happened. It has been proven scientifically that you can implant false childhoodmemories in peoples memory if you show them faked photos of themselwes in places where they have actually never been to. To simplify IŽll give you an example :

"It has been hot ( you are only sure about that and start guessing)
-> sun was shining then! ( maybe it was the radiator inside..)
-> i was outside !! (maybe inside near an ofen..)

But as your associative mind starts working you will soon have memories of the sun shining and be convinced about it.
I avoid to draw associative conclusions, because in dreams you can shiver of cold while lying in a sunshine beach^^

Hope it was not too confusing

I know this is gonna sound weird but smell is one of the strongest senses linked to memory. if you can think of any specific smell that lingered around your house when you were a child that's not in your current one maybe you can recreate it and then attempt to purposely go into one of these states. i dont know maybe it will help.

I agree with smell being very strong memory refresher.

And yes, sometimes as soon as my head hits the pillow, I start to get flashbacks of dreams recent and even long forgotten ones. They come in such a rapid succession, that It's near impossible to stop and explore a dream in more detail. It's my favorite time of the day, when this happens. All I can manage to mutter to myself is "ooooh, that one, and uuuh, that one too, cool", as the images scroll through my minds eye.

But I found that more I recall that one snippet, more often it returns and sometime, rarely though, more details emerge.

So maybe if you write those fragments down and then try to recall them every evening, maybe some more details will reveal themselves. And if there is some false memories with it, well, I don't think that can be prevented either way. Good luck.

Attempt to revisit the dream in a high-awareness lucid dream.
Even if all you remember is shards and fragments of the dream.
      Works every time.

Just make sure to write it down when you wake up.

      The egg is the world.
Who would to be born must first destroy a world.
