      Help with dream recall

I think my dream recall has been going down-hill. I have been recording my dreams for around 3 weeks and last friday I managed to get my first lucid. Ever since my lucid though my dream recall has been fluctuating a lot. I'll go 2-3 days without remembering any dreams and then all of a sudden, I will remember 3-4 dreams in one night. I dont know what the problem is. I thought it might be a dry spell so I hope it will pass. Also recently I have been meditating for around 15 minutes before bed to remove any stress from my body. I run every day and that helps clear my mind as well. I am in school right now so I go to sleep at around 10:00 and wake up at 6:00. I dont use an alarm clock because I found that I usually just wake up naturally or something has woken me up (i have 2 brothers so they make a lot of noise in the morning). Some days I fell like I had a dream the night before but I just cant recall it.
Any and all help is really appreciated!

I have been having a dry spell too. It sucks!

The only tip I have that has helped me, is right after waking up - take a shower with all the lights off, and sit in the shower for 10 min undisturbed. Dream memories always come back every time I do this

Mmm I always try to recall all the dreams as soon as possible. The memories disappear really quickly after waking up. Even though it looks like I don't remember anything I every time mange to recall at least one dream. Just don't stop until you remember . I sometimes try to imagine some scenes that I dream of sometimes or some places I visit in my dreams to help myself to remember.

My dream recall is also very up and down

1 morning I'll wake up and won't need much effort to remember like 2-3 dreams
The next morning I spend hours pondering different scenarios just to find a few fragments of my dream!

I think the ammount of sleep I get helps, even an extra hour seems to make a big difference

Recall does fluctuate with your sleep patterns, how tired / stressed you are, basically it's a part of your life and things in life are always on the move / changing. Keep it up, though, and make a habit of always quietly reaching for recall every single time you wake up. You mind will get better at this over time the more often and regularly that you do it. My quick summary is "never take a vacation from recall!".

Thanks for the feedback guys! I managed to remember fragments of 2 dreams last night and I hope i can do the same tonight.
one question, Ive been recalling for 3 weeks and I cant help but feel like I am falling behind or should be remembering more dreams per night. I usually remember about 1 dream every 2 days. Is this good for 3 weeks of recalling? or should I put more effort into it and really try to accelerate my dream recall?

Don't stress about comparing yourself with others or an Imaginary schedule of improvement, there s no such thing. if you do like I recommended, and alyways reach for recall every time you wake up, that is about the maximal effort you can do, other than perhaps setting a strong intention to notice middle of the night wakings, which can get tiring if you do it for a long time. Always reaching for more and more recall, and journaling your recall will build your recall over time. Keeping a regular sleep schedule and avoiding stress aids in keeping recall consistent

Maybe it's the noise your brothers are making. Remember, when you wake up quickly, your dreams are harder to remember. I have an alarm on my phone that's set to gentle and with the most calm music there is. It will increase in sound as the seconds pass, which helps in waking up slowly.

I always say a quick affirmation before sleep so as to remember my dreams, and it hasn't failed me once. It's pretty consistent, it makes me feel convinced that I'm going to remember my dreams no matter what. Still, most of it lies in direct proportion with how much sleep one has during the course of the night. Still, whenever I know I'm in for a good amount of sleep, just telling yourself before bed that you remember your dreams can lead to incredible results in dream recall. Many times I wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night to jot down my dreams.
