      When in a lucid dream....

So, I have been wondering, when you are in a lucid dream does it feel like the present? Or do you just remember it when you wake up? I don't know if you know what I mean...But, like you know how normal dreams, when you remember them, it is actually just the memory of the dream? Is it like that for lucid dreams?

Did you not have one yet? Being in a lucid dream is being present there, in the moment. Later when you wake up, the memory of the lucid experience is like the memory of what you've done yesterday while awake, or any other memory. Hope this is what you were asking, and that it answers your question.

I think I know what you mean, and yes, you are aware of it happening while it is happening. A lucid dream is your present reality while in it, and feels/looks just like this one

Mimihigurashi, no I have not had one yet. I have been trying on and off for the last 9 months, but the last almost 2 weeks, I have been more serious and have been getting better results. If I continue at the rate I am going now, I should have one within the next two weeks. Thanks for the answers, I was nervous!

Everything from past is just a memory. If you wake up right in REM phase of lucid dream, memory is really vivid and easy to remember. Great things about lucid dreams are not memories but actual presence, like in your waking activities.

Boy, this question sure comes up a lot! Hard to believe, but yes, you are there in the present. THAT is what makes it so freaking awesome! You are not "dreaming", but actually there in an alternate reality as far as you are concerned. You think, feel, and choose to do what you do. There are some differences from reality...you may feel like you do when drunk. Things and scenes may change on you a bit. And hey, being able to fly or walk on water or walk through walls isn't quite "normal" either

You're in the present. But when you wake up it feels like it was just any other dream, or simply what it is, a memory.

When you were awake yesterday, were you in the present?

I had my first lucid dream just today and yes, you definitely feel like you are there. I remember being able to see, blink and wish stuff to happen clearly. My vision during that time was incredibly realistic. However, now that I try to remember it, I only roughly know what happened. Exactly the way I remember any event.

However, that is not to say that you are your waking life you, necessarily. I notice in my dreams today I was still under the influence of the dreamy haze that attacks your brain while you sleep. Your ideas can still be random even if you appreciate that you are in a dream. For instance, in my lucid dream, I wanted to go to a hospital for some reason, so I spawned a hospital. Why did I want to go to a hospital? No clue. This may have to do with how lucid you actually are, but I'm just giving you an idea of what you're going to get.

I suppose everyone is different, but I wouldn't say LDs are just like any other dream when you wake up. Dreams fade quickly and usually are just half-remembered or less at best. My lucid dreams are just like something real I did... present in the moment, clearly recalled after.

Congrats, Sarcastic, on your first LD.

To the OP: Keep up the good work. It's worth it in the end.
