      Did I discover a new technique?

      Hey everyone, I'm very much a noob and have been attempting LDing for a couple of months.

      Last week I had my first LD, it was a DILD but lasted like 20 secs.
      I've been practicing WILD lately but haven't had much luck.

      Last night I staying at my girlfriends, I woke in the middle of the night with the need to pee, instead of using this to get up and do a WBTB I decided just to hold it.
      I lay in bed trying to sleep, still feeling that need to pee. After about 30seconds the feeling went. I thought It was strange and I opened my eyes, the room was flickering. I did an RC and found I was dreaming. I had an amazing LD which lasted about 15 mins.

      After it was finished I did the same thing, waited until the feeling of needing to pee subsided and opened my eyes and again I was dreaming. I had another amazing LD which was like half an hour!

      So this is it, the BLILD (bladder induced lucid dream). BILD seems to be coined a lot already.

      Haha, awesome name. Unfortunately I almost never wake up in the middle of the night unless I set an alarm.
      I'll still give it a try though.

      Funny and interesting. Usually when I wake up in the middle of the night having to pee I get annoyed because it's disrupting my sleep, but I'm gonna try to do what you say and take advantage of it. I assume drinking plenty of water before bedtime will help.

      Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

      Sounds like creating a pain to stay awake to be able to WILD!
      I am a fan of trying every single method and sure, I will try it too! I hope I won't pee in my bed...hehehe

      Yes interesting indeed. One thing I've noticed about FAs (false awakenings) is that they can be very, very tricky to detect, you can be 100% convinced that you've woken up and are in bed in your room. It's conceivable that you were dreaming the entire time.

      It's not a new method, the feeling that you need to pee just acts as your anchor to stay aware while WILDing.

      It worked for me!!!!!
      I drank 3 glass of water before bed and I was about to explode when I woke up. I tried to remain still. Nothing happen by its own. Then I imagined I go to restroom. Then suddenly I found myself out of my body.
      Bad luck was that I performed 3 types of reality checks but none of them showed I was dreaming (although I was sure I was dreaming). Then my mum told me =hey....why don't you sleep?

      After actual waking up, I found out I was lucid!
      Many method works for me once and twice very well but then.....
      I hope it continues to work!!!!! Thank you for sharing this technique with us!

      Congrats, but what size glasses of water, and how long does it take you to fall asleep? Because it takes me like an hour, and I think I drank too much water, I kept having to get up and pee and ended up taking over two hours to fall asleep and then woke up to pee way too late, only like an hour before my usual wake up time.

      I quite often have toilet themed dreams, and I usually have a large glass of water before bed to help me wake for a WBTB. I've always been a bit worried that peeing in a dream might translate into wetting the bed. I'll have a go at this technique, but I would be worried that either I just wouldn't get to sleep again for worrying (!) or would just have to get up to go.

      - medium size of glass.
      - I had the same problem you had. i fell sleep a little late at night and the pressure in my bladder was killing me. so i chose the easy way and went to rest room.
      but when i felt i am very sleepy, i went to drink 3 glasses of water (it was too much water and i felt i might swallow it out)! then i slept within 5 minutes.
      when i woke up, i wanted to go to rest room as you did but i tried to keep myself from moving. instead, i just imagined i go to restroom and then in 2 seconds, i was out of my body! (I never thought we are highly under the influence of our imagination until today).

      Yes....but there are 10000000 ways to do WILD! for example, in some WILD methods, one must focus on breathing until he/she falls sleep which has never worked for me.
      I think the type of anchor we choose is very important in every WILD technique. As you know, each anchor only works for special group of people.

      I see. I actually thought something along those lines as I was lying in bed, "hmm.. maybe I should've drank the water later when I'm feeling much more sleepy" but it was too late XD Thanks for the info

      I tried this last night. I drank 5 (!) glasses of water because I'm a fairly deep sleeper... Bad idea. Couldn't really fall asleep because, well, it just felt like the water might come back out when I lied down. So I read my book for like 20 mins, then when I wanted to sleep I already felt like I had to pee... And that feeling just got worse so I just went to the bathroom so that I could fall sleep without having the feeling that my bladder was about to burst.

      I did get a short lucid dream and a false awakening that morning though, but I dont think that had anything to do with this method. Anyway, don't make the same mistakes as me. Don't drink too much, and try to fall asleep right after you drink.

      Yup, too much water keeps you awake. Make sure to pee some out before bed.
