Okay, so a dream guide is what exactly?

Î haven't posted in a while. Actually just recently started working on my lucid dreaming skills again. I had made pretty good and fast progress but kinda went lax on my development of my skills so kinda went rusty a bit. I didn't quite hit square one where I got anxious upon getting lucid and waking up like I had posted about before but I did go backwards a bit. So I am working at regaining progress.

Anyway I have been reading on the forum and doing some searching and came upon the concept that we all have at least one dream guide which is a dream character that helps with our LD skills.

Also I've read and am not new to the idea that anything that happens in a dream and all DC's are from your subconscious. Essentially "it's all in your head".

So I'm slightly confused about one thing: is the DG the exception to the rule or is the DG still a manifestation of your subconscious?.

The reason I ask is I read that you generally can't control your DG such as the appearance thereof or even if the DG is present within a dream. It seems that if the DG is a manifestation of your subconscious and/or if you're someone who has developed good dream control, then you could control the DG if you so choose.

Thoughts? Is the DG. "all in your head", or a separate "entity" for lack of a better word?

It is a manifestation of your subconscious, depending on who you ask.

I think it's the fact that we expect a character like this to appear that we create one. We then give it special properties that separate them from the rest of the mindless DCs.

Also, I am a Dream Guide and last time I checked I was a separate entity from everyone elses' subconscious

LOL! Are you *sure* you're a separate entity? Sorry, couldn't resist!

As for the subconscious DG...so basically you make up a special type of DC that even someone good at dream control can't control, by virtue of the fact we essentially create it to be not consciously controlled?

I personally believe in entities from the astral that can be attracted to a devoted hard working dreamer and convinced to train them. I am sure anyone can have a dream guide made up by their own mind, but that is not what I am referring to at all.
I am talking about something so bizarre it would be lumped in with ESP and aliens by most. Do I care if many members will shake their heads and go "oh, Sivason, you strange fool"? No, because to me this stuff is way too real to doubt, so why not just say it?
Most DG will be nothing but a DC who seems extra intelligent, but a select few dreamers will be able to receive training from actual entities that inhabit a realm based on energy that is more connected to dreaming than anything else we could compare it to.
I can control virtually any DC at a whim. I can make them vanish, appear, become some else or do what I want. I can not however control my DGs.

I love that you're willing to share your views sivason even though some people might be weird about it, I always love to hear different perspectives and metaphysical viewpoints. You're so awesome.

Like I said, depending on who you ask, you'll get different answers . I have similar views to this.

Likewise, you'll usually end up with similar end results . They will be helpful, and they will guide you =D

Well, if you're a strange fool, I hope you don't mind if I join the club. What you say makes sense to me.

I *generally* agree with the idea that anything happening in a dream is a product of the subconscious...at least most anything.

But it seems to me that a dream would also be an ideal time for energy-based entities to communicate with you. I mean, in a dream, the barrier that is logic that says "hey, that can't happen!" Is practically non-existent. Perhaps less non-existent when lucid because you have enough logic telling you that you're in a situation that wouldn't happen while awake, but there's not so much logic in the way to say it's still impossible.

It also gives them a medium of communication. While affecting the physical world may be beyond them, in a dream you are basically in a "Holodeck" or virtual reality. It is easy for them to interact there.

      BOTH....or EITHER.......

I created my dream guide one night during my very first lucid.
I read about lucid dreaming and became interested in it, then of course i read everything about lucid dreaming that I could....
I had decided that my dream guide would be my first crush in high school....well, at least the appearance....

My first time going FULL THROTTLE lucid, i will never forget it.....i was in my sons bedroom.......in the dream, and a voice told me , "this is a dream"....
      I stood frozen in shock....then i remembered.....stabilization....then summon........

I summoned my dream guide and she appeared to me in a business suit with an entourage of random people with an out-streched hand.....
my DG has randomly appeared in my lucids...but mostly only appears when I summon her.......

funny, these dream guides.........my dream guide gets JEALOUS sometimes when i summon other women.....lol

That is funny. My current dream guide gets angry (jealous?) when I talk about my wife.

dream guides are different by whoever you ask really, but it comes down to:
Something or someone in your dream that has occurred more than once and offered you some form of guidance.

Whether or not it is metaphysical is up for debate, or if it is your subconscious, or if it is a full manifestation of your conscious mind. I have a personal view of them that I don't even know if I believe.

A dream guide could be a couple
Belief in your dream guide makes it so that you can easily change your belief in a dream about your abilities.
Your dream guide is a conscious representation of all knowledge and logic that you ever accrued.

There are more fun ideas that I definitely don't subscribe to, but are fun to think about.
      Like:
Dream guides are just part of a dream that your dream had already set up, knowing that you would get lucid and what you would want from it.
Dream guides are super LDers that know how to dream share, they invade people's dreams for fun and to spread love of LDing, but they won't ever tell you this.
Dream guides are parallel universe versions of yourself that have gotten way better at dreaming than you. (This really spurned from a dream of mine where I met a parallel version of myself, she was the last remaining of us, and she was warning me about my imminent death, I found her by cracks in the dimensions that I can now see in dreams and she took me to our "Dream space")
Dream guides are your future dreaming self come back (paradox)

There are all sorts of fun ones that can get thrown around.
