      Need motivation... Help

      Hello everyone,

As you may know by my name I'm Konrad and I have a simple question for you lucid dreamers. I have been trying to lucid dream in the past when I was like 12 years old. But now I lost the motivation to write in my dream journal or wake up and write in it. So my question is do you dreamers have any tips that can give my some motivation to write in it.

If you want to lucid dream you need to do all techniques and dream journal properly. Because you cant find out which works for you until you have really tried them. Dont be lazy because of motivation just do it thats it.
Just to say that lucid dreaming is worth of the effort. Just think what is the thing you have wanted to do most of your life and know you know its possible to experience it in lucid dreams. If you havent had one i will say it that sometimes they are as real as reality. So think about that. Wouldnt you want experience your fantasy?

I know how it feels, but it's important to know in order to learn lucid dreaming you need to break the wall, which means if you have a lot of free time (2 months maybe?) then you should spend this time extremely intense on lucid dreaming. Writing in your DJ every day and spamming every technique you can get your hands on, then you can start filtering out your best technique and keep fine-tuning it until you have your own induction method.

In order to accomplish anything in life, you will hit this place. You don't feel like doing it anymore, but you have to persist. Look towards the future to keep better track of today.

I also like the idea of having exit times. Every year, there is one day that I can stop LDing. The other days, I have no choice no matter what I want.

Hi, AmazingDreamer. Unfortunately, no one can really supply you with motivation; it's something you have to develop from within.

I would start, like Seltiez mentioned, by becoming familiar with why you want to LD. How big of a reason is it? Better yet, how important to you is it that you succeed? The strength of that motivation will quite often determine how quickly you succeed, and whether or not you continue to succeed.

If you realize your motivation is weak because you don't really know why you want to LD, then excellent: you know now what the problem is! You can use this to read deeper into lucid dreaming and find out if it is for you. I would suggest reading dream journals of users here, reading books about LDing, and so forth. If the motivation is weak for another reason (lack of interest, lack of time, and so on) work towards finding a place for dreaming in your life. Start small and work from there.

My main motivation is dream recall. I absolutely *love* recalling my dreams. In fact, the longer I do LD practice, the more I feel like I'm actively living my dreams as they happen, and not simply recalling some vague memory that may or may not have happened to me or just been something I read, etc. Lucidity is the icing on the cake, and is the main reason I started, but it's the recall that keeps me going in between the lucids... if you can cultivate a strong love of all your dreams even the non-lucid ones (which are more fun anyway IMO), the motivation comes from the incredible desire, the "need" to maintain and extend these experiences.

Break those mental blocks. Everytime you regained your motivation, you'll see that it's easier to keep up your practice. Until it's just something you do, like breathing.

I completely agree with FryingMan. Learning to love your non-lucids is one of the best ways to keep your motivation. We all have ups and downs in motivation, but learning to lucid dream requires daily discipline and effort. Just think of how much better you'll have got in some months time, picture yourself succeeding and think of yourself as a lucid dreamer. Motivation is key, so once you grab a hold of it, hold on tight!

You don't technically need a dream journal but it really REALLY helps. I've been pretty lazy about it too but I usually get away with it by recounting my dream to myself several times. The motivation should be what you can do in a lucid dream. All of your wildest dreams can come true and you have the ultimate power to do so. Want to fight with gladiators in rome? you can do it. Want to fly to the moon and have a picnic with bill clinton? You can do it. Want to bang a hot chick, hell you can do that too. In the end you just gotta take the initiative and DO IT.

Personally, I like the DJ on this site because I can type quicker than I write and font is more neat than my hand writing.

The motivation can come from within or from the outside. I think a good mentor could also help you. You could look for someone in this community that really motivates you. Or look up some books on lucid dreaming. I return here everytime I need to refuel my motivation because I find so many here so motivational towards this common goal. It does take time and if you cultivate this hobby you will see results. Just keep searching out that fuel for motivation. Your on the right track.

I think signup for dreamviews should be contingent on proving that you've watched this video. Really excellent.

Haha it's a good thing that success in this discipline means you HAVE to sleep!

You have to want it like you want to breathe.

Love that video. And yes, the fact that our discipline requires us to sleep is great haha
