Worm holes: Was this a WILD? If not, what was it?

I've only ever had this experience once, but it was one of the most unique dream experiences I've ever had. I was laying in bed going to sleep, but instead of just drifting off to sleep and slowly working my way into a dream, at one point that night as I was drifting off I was almost instantaneously shot down what I could describe as a worm hole like tunnel where I flew out of the other end and landed on the ground into a vivid dream. I've never experienced it since, I could see the tunnel and I could see my self flying through it and I could see my self exit the tunnel at the other end into a dream scene. Has anyone else experienced something similar? The tunnel looked something like this:

Two or three times, I have fallen directly asleep into a vivid lucid dream. But never quite the way you described it, falling through a tube and all.

It is something that I want to figure out how to replicate. If I could learn to replicate these, that would be spectacular. But so far as I can tell they were utterly random.

Just saw another thread with an interesting term, perhaps this was an experience of Hypnagogia? I've seen hallucinations during the phase of falling asleep before, but this experience was basically me observing the entire transitional phase from wakefulness directly into the dream that took me and my body with me down the wormhole, into a vivid dream unlike a WILD. Perhaps WIVD? However, what's interesting though is that I knew what was happening at the time, I did have awareness, I knew that I was transitioning and had transitioned into a dream, although I lost awareness as the dream went on, so perhaps you could consider this a WILD that I lost control of?

Although I haven't specifically experienced a tunnel, the dream I had five years ago that inspired me to learn lucid dreaming was similar in some other respects to what you describe. It was just an ordinary work night during a very stressful time in my life, and I was lying in bed with insomnia thinking, "If I can't sleep, at least I'll try to get some rest," and regulating my breathing. Suddenly I felt my body shoot up into the air, do a figure-eight around the bedroom at what felt like dizzying speed, and then I was abruptly popped into an extraordinary vivid dream scenario with full awareness that I was dreaming. I'd had spontaneous LDs periodically in my life but the others were all regular DILDs, nothing so dramatic as this. And I've had plenty of WILDs since, but they almost invariably involve a process of tediously crawling out of bed. That one dream remains the only one of its kind that I've experienced to date.

I guess I would call my experience a WILD, and yours as well, even though I've never had another WILD with the same characteristics. But dreams are so protean that the more we try to pin them down with labels, the more we'll find ourselves confounded. For instance, just this morning I had what I thought at the time was a DEILD, except that afterwards I realized that I had launched it from an FA rather than a genuine waking, which made it technically a DILD, so in the end the most accurate acronym I could come up with for the dream was FA-DILD-DEILD!

This was a WILD--you maintained consciousness throughout a dream transition. Yuschak talks about the "tunnel" experience in his supplement bible. But WILD transition is a different experience between LDers, and often a different experience between dreams.

I had some very spectacular transitions. One of them was a wormhole with checkered pattern. I like them, because somehow it is easier for me to stay aware. I can lose myself if it is a soft transition. I wonder that after a "beam me up, Scotty" WILD you was losing your awareness so fast.

Thanks for the confirmation of a WILD! Also it's good to hear others have had this experience too! I've only ever had this once so at least I know the signs to look for and perhaps try and replicate it again. I think at the time, this was probably between 5-10 years ago when it happened I had a massive drug problem, so seeing tunnels in closed eye visuals was a common occurrence for me, kind of like psychedelic or kaleidoscopic tunnel vision. It's interesting that you mention the tunnel in relation to supplements, perhaps there's some very mild psychedelic compounds contained within some of them which entice closed eye visuals, as I know from experience that psychedelics do create this effect. Not that I'm advocating the use of psychedelics for inducing dreams, but perhaps using other methods to induce closed eye visuals such as sensory deprivation or meditation, and using the mind to focus and try to hone in on the concept of the tunnel during a WILD attempt might make this experience more successful. This is something I'm definitely going to try and experiment with!

Yes, if you keep awareness from being awake, through the transition and into the lucid dream, that is a WILD.

And yes, the transition can be 1000 different things. http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...into-wild.html

Fun dream. That's something that I've noticed happens a lot in between lucid dreams, too. It's interesting how you describe yourself landing into a dream scene. The handful of times I've been in the tunnel, a dream option (or options!) appears in the tunnel in the form of a DVD-like screen selection. I can choose to enter it, or keep riding the tunnel. It's neat to read different experiences of it.
