      Finally a long Lucid!

Don' t get me wrong...the last four years of lucid dreaming has been great. I've had some really really incredible experiences. But most my lucid dreams are only a minute or two, or sometimes only seconds... probably 2-3 minutes was the longest I have had. So last night after a dry spell I had a 20-30 minute lucid! I was just beginning to think I had a physical or mental limitation and longer lucids were not possible for me. For those out there who try to stabilize and stay in the dream...but cant....don't lose hope...it IS possible!

Have you noticed any relation between your normal dream times and your LD times? I've had two accidental lucid dreams that were about 20-30 seconds long, but my normal dreams are around 5-20 minutes. Should I wait until I get better and have more LDs to see?

If "infected schema" are expectations that screw with your abiities to direct and maintain lucidity, then let's call "inoculated schema" the opposite. There's no reasons your lucids should be any shorter than your regular NLDs, you just need to condition your expectations to make them last longer. Try techniques, if they help (like spinning or rubbing your hands), or you can do it through attitude alone if you can make this work. LDs can last every bit as long as NLDs!

      SirTuppy:

Yes, normal dreams for me can be/usually are longer. I don't clearly recall them but I know enough to sense passage of time. However the lucid I had was just as long as a normal dream. I think I caught it early in the dream cycle. Maybe others I go lucid closer to the end... I don't know for sure. Or maybe my mind is more comfortable now staying lucid but still in the dream.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm still working in some basic techniques but look forward to being able to fully stabilize.

That's awesome, congratulations man! I hope that all of your future lucid dreams will be just as long or even longer.

think of it like this sirtuppy, if your in a boring class and your not not really paying attention a lot goes by but its not really noted. lots happen but your just not in focus with everything. once the hour has gone by and you try to describe it, you wont have much to talk about and it may seem short because you weren't really aware and just going along. now if you were excited with what you were doing and did a lot in that same hour when you would describe what you did it would seem long, you would have a lot more to talk about, and it would feel longer as you recall all of the different things you did rather than just simply saying you sat there idling and waiting. thats how i view it at least, hope that made some sense!

rothgar, congrats on the long lucid! i havent had many but one of my recent ones was very long and it was amazing, the one before that was long and awesome too! good luck on future endeavors in the dream world. try some Task of the Month stuff sometime haha.
