      Question about dream clarity

I'm getting much better at initiating lucid dreams. I've been able to do it two nights in a row now and I firmly believe I will have another one tonight.

My question has to do with remembering the dreams, I feel like they are pretty clear when I'm actually having them, but shortly after I wake up my memory of them becomes foggy. I remember basically what I did and what happened in the dream, but it's still fuzzier than I'd like it to be. I've started a dream journal to deal with this, in the first ten minutes I'm awake I try to write down as many keywords and details as possible that describe my dream.

I particularly have trouble remembering what my dream characters actually say to me. I remember their attitudes towards me, but I have trouble recalling specific lines of dialogue.

So, exactly how much can I improve the clarity of my dream memories? Will I be able to get to a point where they become as clear and memorable as the memories I have in my waking life?

Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

Your dream memories, if you work at it, can surpass waking life memories in clarity, detail, and continuity. You're already doing the right thing by journaling, but if you want to remember dreams in great detail, you must journal in great detail.

      Sure.

Since LD's are essentially waking-life memories, you ought to eventually record them in your head like any other waking-life memory. Unfortunately, even waking-life memory often has trouble retaining exactly what a waking-life person says, so, as in waking-life, you might consider taking notes: as soon as you waken from your dream, grab a pen and write down anything significant (or anything at all) that you heard a DC tell you. Try not to assure yourself that you'll put t down later as you record the dream in your journal, because, as you know, you won't.

      Thanks for the replies, guys.

The reason I have trouble with remembering dream dialogue in particular might just be because I don't focus on it much, I'm usually just trying to use some kind of super power.

Just like in real life, your brain will remember only things that he considers useful for your adaptation and special events. If 10 random people will talk to you on the street you wont remember it so well, but if 10 aliens will talk to you, well, maybe you wont remember everything in detail ( depends on the impact it has on you ), but you will remember all of them and most of the part of what they said. It's about giving importance to it. In a dream there are many things that happen, so "gathering information" from all sources it's pretty hard at the beginning. You can get something to write on, near your bed, so when you wake up you write all you remember ( if you don't already do this ).
