      Dream Character's Access To Memory

Ever find it interesting when a dream character provides you with a certain detail you've forgotten from a past memory and you realize that its true? Well I do. Have you ever experimented with a dream character providing you with details from a memory you haven't remembered completely? Dream entries included.: )

I had this happen today during a lucid dream, except, upon further reflection, the dream character was WRONG about the context. Long story short: DC made a reference to (what was supposed to be) my old city bus driver, and I was like, "Wow, I'm surprised you remember that," and for some reason I believed what they were saying at the time, but it turned out to be a different driver with a different bus route that I had frequently seen in the same lane. It wasn't my driver; I never paid much attention to that person and so I had forgotten about them, but the memory of them was still there for the dream to play with.

I don't think I've ever experienced this myself, but it sounds great. It would be pretty awesome to have a DC remind you of something from long ago, or perhaps like if you can't remember the name of a song for example and its driving you nuts you might get the answer from a DC. interesting . I personally have more had DC's remind me or tell me about my emotional state and deep seated feelings rather than facts or experiences, but I can definitely see it happening. In fact I might try to experiment with this tonight haha.

Yeah, it happens. That's why its good to take what they say lightly. Especially since memory can be jumbled in with other parts of a memory like in your example. But even with that its still possible for the memory they describe to be coherent. However, i say this about simple things where they can even pick out details that bring your recall back. I'm not sure if dream characters can bring back a memory to you from a long time ago that you hardly even remember.: D Would be cool if it was a definite yes though.

Same for me. They tell me more about my emotional state and feelings that need to be solved. But perhaps that is because we need to try for ourselves whether they can help us remember something. Its good to know that your going to experiment with it as well. ^^ However, take what they say lightly since there are those dream characters that will spew out nonsense.

I can't think of any examples yet where a DC has done this, but I've had dream content in non-lucid dreams that I later discovered was based on stuff I consciously thought I had forgotten, or didn't even know I knew.

I definitely have been wanting to ask DCs about myself and maybe about past events. It sometimes takes several attempts. In some recent ones, the DCs simply wouldn't talk (which is a bit unusual), and a lot of times I get DCs that respond more like software chatterbots than sentient people. On one occasion, I actually got a conversation that was more meaningful, though when I woke up I realized the DC really only told me what I already believed was the case. I'll keep trying, though.

For me it hasn't happened a lot while lucid but yeah, seems like for most its more likely to happen in non lucid dreams.

XD I wonder what the dream world would be like if every dream character gave meaningful conversations. Probably would be really mind boggling. But if there are dream characters that tell us what we already believe to be the case and those that can change our opinions, than perhaps it is possible for them to use what is known to bring out snippets of information.

But the question is how. By asking a simple question or perhaps by a simple thought? I've found that questions, even the simplest, can often lead to unhelpful answers. But when asking these questions i viewed who i was asking nothing more than a dc i just met that could probably give me a correct answer. Which was a mistake. Because in dreams what you expect, even if a possibility, can lead to the conclusion you didn't want. To know the answer will be given is better.

Also, the character can reply the answer because of what you expect but from that you probably could get something thrown out that you didn't expect. However, its a different story if you ask a dc something beyond dreaming related. ^^
