Was I close to achieving wild?

So today around 3 PM I decided to take a nap. I put on my headphones and started to listen to some astral projection binaural beats. I layed there for 40 min. So something around the 20 min mark my body felt really tingly and buzzing. At that time I was doing the counting method. The tingling was so intense that I couldn't count and focus anymore. I tried to but it was to intense. I felt my heart beating faster and my breathing got heavier. It kinda felt like a asthma attack or something. Anyways that feeling was going on for about 3 minutes and it faded away. After that my muscles started twitching and I had unconsciously moved my leg, so I opened my eyes and checked the time.

So my question is: was I close to getting into SP/Lucid Dream and how do I stay focused during these tingly feelings ??

From how you describe it, I would say you were very close.

These vibrations and pulsations can indeed be very disconcerting, the first few times I experienced them I got exited and a bit concerned. I think it is just a matter of getting used to and preparing yourself for them, remind yourself that they are absolutely not going to hurt you or anything, in fact they are a sign something good is happening. I have found that once you get used to them they become very enjoyable.

Try to develop a objective mindset about them, observe them disinterestedly without any aversion or attachment toward them.

The method you described is perfectly fine, but perhaps look into something like the rope technique as well, I have found it effective. I always say that people should try every method available, see which works best for them, and then build a step by step procedure. This particular failure could have been a result of, and I am just guessing on this point, on you not being close enough to the lucid dream states 'attractor basin' when the transition started to occur. It is my hypothesis that proximity to this 'attractor basin' at the point of transition is a main determining factor of success, proximity is dictated in large part by the adequacy of ones methodology. If there is not sufficient proximity at the moment of transition resulting from inadequate initial conditions or technique, the lucid dream state is highly liable to lack the energy to self-stabilise and thus fly apart in minutes like a unstable molecule with weak chemical bonds.

If you need some extra help with this until you get more used to it, I have found that the amino acid L-Theanine, which is found in low levels in green tea, helps lower anxiety, enhance memory. and increase focus and does not have any side effects which may hinder your lucid dream ability.
