I don't understand what to do?...

So...so far non-consistently I used to do reality checks when I first started trying to lucid dream...my first lucid dream was when I didn't mean to fall asleep...and accidentally took a nap when I new I had to go somewhere and didn't want to sleep but was lying their with my eyes closed... now I'm having trouble getting this again...my first lucid dream I was actually able to control and manifest things and I got better the other couple of accidental times I have been privileged lucidity...now...seemingly...if I break down the times I have been lucid my answer is to trick my body into falling asleep even though I don't want to...because it seems when I fall asleep when I'm just bored or a bit tired (like lastnight for example...I was watching a youtube video while lying on my bed and was so tired I was falling asleep but wanted to watch the video so bad...I kept tr tying but fell asleep and for some reason when I fall asleep like a nap that way or when I don't want to because I need to go somewhere or something when I start dreaming I realize I'm dreaming like it's common sense... like oxygen like why didn't I notice this earlier...) but that is so hard for me to do...and I'm trying to do the wild technique but the farthest I have gotten is hypnagogic imagery slightly and morso sound but I was curious and didn't let it flow and concentrated on the sound I was hearing and it failed and my body was just really relaxed because it woke from almost sleep paralysis...and ever since then I can't get that far and I can't take naps because I just don't take naps because I guess my body is hard wired to think when I go to sleep it's time to actually sleep and I want to take a 30 minute to 2 hour nap and 12 in the evening or 2 in the afternoon and I wake up at 8-10 at night...please help me...I want to lucid dream for a multitude of things other than just flying and talking to my dream characters...but...I don't know what to do...please help...

I think more folks would respond if this was not one very large block of text. From what I read, you are having trouble LDing and don't know what to do? If you feel like WILD is a good avenue for you, then check out Sageous's WILD class and read some of the WILD guides.

The more experience you have with relaxing and allowing the hypnagogic stuff to just do whatever it's going to do, the less excited you will be about it, which will eventually lead to success--either you will WILD, or you will DILD. It really doesn't matter.

Just preserve as much awareness as you can while falling asleep, and eventually you will have some success. Pick an anchor that makes sense to you (being aware of HI, or paying attention to your breathing, or whatever) and fall asleep while lightly holding that anchor with your awareness. It's OK and necessary to fall asleep. Good luck.

      Welcome to the forum.

Readability aside, it sounds like you're having trouble with WILD. Like ThreeCat said, when WILDing, you don't want to focus too much on hypnogogic imagery, as that will just keep you awake. Just acknowledge that it is there, but don't let it distract you.

Another thing that might help is performing a WBTB - basically setting an alarm and waking up 4-6 hours after falling asleep, staying up for some amount of time, and going back to sleep while attempting WILD or some other technique. This works because dreams primarily occur during REM sleep. If you're attempting to WILD when you first go to sleep (which it sounds like you're doing), it's unlikely you'll be able to transition into a dream since there isn't much REM during the early portions of your sleep. However, there's typically more REM sleep later in the night, after you've slept for 4-6 hours or so, so you're more likely to pull off a WILD then as opposed to at the beginning of the night. You can find more about WBTB here: WBTB Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views
