HELP! FILD is driving me wild

so I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but i figured might as well ask. I'm a decently experienced Lucid Dreamer using MILD but I decided to try FILD last night. I woke up at 4 a.m. and started the technique. It felt a lot like the final stage of WILD but for some reason my heart started beating insanely fast like it was gonna beat out of my chest and it felt like I was blinking with my eyes closed like they were "flickering" (best word I can use to describe it) and they were flickering/blinking insanely fast. I don't know exactly what the problem is maybe I just need to practice it and get used to it more. Any thoughts?

So what happened after that? You gave up or you entered a dream?
I think the flickering was just your eyes moving fast because of REM in combination with hypnagogic imagery. Not entirely sure though.

Well according to the FILD technique you are supposed to move your index and middle fingers up and down very slightly, after about 30-40 seconds you are supposed to do a RC, if the RC works you're dreaming but if not you are just supposed to go back to sleep and try again another time. So after I did the reality check and it didn't work I just went back to sleep. And it can't be the REM because although your eyes are moving, you do not (at least you are not supposed to) feel them moving. The thing is it wasn't even my eyes really it was more my eyelids. Try this: close your eyes and start blinking but keep your eyes shut the whole time, thats what it felt like and it was happening very fast along with a very high heart rate. I don't know why this is happening honestly.

Yeah, I've had that before. Not while doing FILD though, but still. Didn't have the very high heart rate either. And if you think you were that close, then maybe you should just wait a bit longer next before doing an RC?

Yeah, I have to agree with you on that. Last night was my first night trying FILD, I will try tonight and try and wait longer before my RC

Try using a sleep mask of somesort to put weight on your eyelids. It could help to prevent the flickering.
