shout if you love your hypnagogia

I never paid them much attention before in my life, but since starting my lucidity practice I'm so loving them

From the most mundane (I'm eating a grape, I'm drinking a glass of water), to the most surreal (I have horns growing out of my head); from the simplest (children running down a country lane) to the most elaborate (I'm waiting for my favourite comic artist to deliver the art for a graphic novel I have written). I love how vivid they are, but also because they're so short they make such an impression - moreso than my huge unwieldy dreams in some ways! they're like the haiku of the dream world

Sometimes when i'm waiting for sleep i count the breaths between HH and use that to judge the approach of sleep - they're twenty breaths apart, theyr'e ten breaths apart, they're five breaths apart - it's like watching a train gradually approaching while you wait on the platform!

The only downside is that I've noticed that recently I've been so enjoying them i've totally forgotten to WILD or MILD,and just drifted off into regular dreams

Sometimes something weird might pop up but I enjoy having them as well before I have my dream.

Referring to them as a haiku is an interesting analogy; I hadn't really thought of it like that. Having come to more readily recognize their subtle presence over time, I always find them interesting as well. Events that happen just before I enter sleep and unconsciousness especially are particularly striking, occasionally a bit startling, but always quite fascinating.

Most of my hypnagogic experiences have taken place when I've retained my awareness during REM Atonia. There have been so few incidences of the experiences being terrifying, frightening, or disturbing I can count them on one hand despite having a great many experiences in that state. Typically the sensations and whatnot can range from very pleasant, to as neutral as it can really get, and then while I don't ever see them as negative or unenjoyable, I also get quite a few experiences that many others might find highly negative and sound highly negative if I simply describe what happens without adding a disclaimer that I actually really enjoyed the experience and it was extremely interesting. That's how I usually view those experiences, anyway. Typically I'm more preoccupied with how awesome and fascinating I find the ability to experience such things and that they result from an entirely natural process that your body and mind go through every night.

That sounds really cool guys. My hypnagogia are mostly black and white shapes floating, I try to make sense out of them but it doesn't go too far beyond that. Sometimes I also see vivid images but then I realize it's just my imagination. I was too keen on seeing something that even my imagination seemed real.

I like snoop's idea that even what might sound on paper like "negative" experiences with hypnagogia are still always interesting. I've had a couple of nightmarish flashes - but unlike real nightmares, which are like a prison that one is trapped in, the quickness of even a frightenng hypnagogic image means that I never find them overwhelming.

I found this short talk by Daniel Love on "hypnagogic sufing" in the forum:http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...c-surfing.html
