      Question General WILD Method Hiccup

We all know how effective WILD can be. Not for me, apparently. Let's cut to the chase: I just can't seem to WILD whenever the heck I want to.

What I mean by that is I seem to get way too excited when performing any sort of WILD technique (DEILD, FILD, you name it). I guess because it's such an effective method of choice (Well, I've read it was) that I usually get too giddy whenever I attempt DEILD and such that I usually end up botching the technique altogether. When I, say, wake up an hour before my usual wake up time, or out of a dream, and I attempt to do DEILD and such, I get way too excited for any proper WILD-ing to occur.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Or at least recommend another technique that works well with WBTB? I've tried MILD, but I don't think I'm nearly proficient at it enough to get any real use out of it. You can also reccomend to me MILD tips if you want.

Yes, how is your dream recall ? Work on it as much as you can for a while, until you get regular lucids and then relax a bit the effort. This will allow your mind to know how dreams feel and then you just keep to a minimum of dream journalling practice so as to keep your familiarity and ability to recognize your dreams.

As to know what life feels like, do not assume you already know, try to be in touch with your senses and your own sense of control of your reality. Know that you are the co-creator of your reality and study how your thoughts and expectations influence how you perceive the world.
Try to clear brain fog with meditation and good healthy habits.

Practice reality checks, specially when you feel strange or curious experiences. Know that a truly random reality check (something that only happens if you cultivate the habit even when you are sure your awake) will bring lucidity 10% of times.

The first signs of success are increased vividness and better recall, so dont be discouraged

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I found this wheel of emotions. Maybe this will be helpful in the analysis of your feelings.

It seems like you're on the border between being happy and surprised. Being more surprised probably won't do any good, so being less surprised while remaining happy is the way to go.

I have been in this position before, and what has worked for me in the past was just to focus on my breath. This makes me feel more peaceful.

Feeling any emotion between interested and optimistic would probably work just as well.

Lately my dream recall has been all over the place. I typically don't like to record nightmares (Since they go beyond the point of absurd to just becoming plain surreal), and sadly I have had nothing but nightmares for a week now. I really need to get to controlling my emotions, the feeling of anxiety personally. It'll probably pass with time but I know that's not the right way to do it.

I haven't been making an active effort to write down my dreams since, again, they're too disturbing for me to handle. It has been getting better since two days ago but only slightly.

Though to be honest, I have had long periods of time where I had nothing BUT vivid dreams. It IS possible for me to get back to that I'm sure, it's just only a matter of time before I get there.

I would honestly recommend practicing getting into a quiet state of consciousness, so you can just DEILD with ease.

I'm gunna give you an enlightenment trick that I use to get to a place of stillness in any situation. If you do this, as a wee bonus you will actually be one step closer to enlightenment. But I'm writing it purely to help you quiet your mind.

You can see, hear and think things, right? You witness thoughts, right? Put your attention towards the witness itself, the pure awareness. Thoughts will arise but they are arising in front of the witness. The witness never changes, right? The witness is always silent and always still.

Root yourself in the witness, in the pure awareness. Root yourself here and everything else can just fall away. And like I said, thoughts will come, but just be the witness of the thoughts. Don't identify with the thoughts.

While practicing DEILD you can root yourself in the witness but also have the intention of going directly into a lucid dream. Be the witness of the intention. Be the pure witness of your mind repeating "I will go into a dream" over and over, and whatever else your technique involves. You are the witness of it no matter what, but when you identify as the witness (which is the true self, by the way) you become still as absolute zero.

Hope it helps, I'd just love to see you become successful with DEILD. I love DEILD
