      Returning to lucid deaming

Hey there, I used to be a rather prominent lucid dreamer. I even wrote my own guide on how to DEILD. However, this was a long time to go, and it seems my plight with getting back to lucid dreaming is that I've forgotten virtually everything! I'm making this thread in the hope of receiving answers to a few general questions I have. These are as follows:

How long will it take to get my dream recall up to scratch?
Are the first lucid dreams typically quality, or fleeting?
How long does it take to get my dream control to the point where you can reasonably dictate the events of a lucid dream, and not destabilise?
How long will it take to have my first lucid dream? (I plan on doing regular RCs for DILDs and also using DEILD) Keep in mind that I do have lucid dreaming experience, but I haven't practised in a few years.

Obviously a few of these questions are 'how long is a piece of string' but what I'm really looking for is a generalised idea of the scope of taking up lucid dreaming once again. Cheers in advance and it's nice to be involved in the community again

      Welcome back yuppie.
I also used to be a very involved lucid dreamer, not much here but more on a French forum, and I stopped during nearly a whole year.
I'm back too since about 2 months and I'm working hard on the DEILD technique with the help of RemDreamer.
That's starting to work, 36h ago I chained 5 LDs.
to answer to one of your question, the first LD should be rather soon since your motivation sounds high.

By the way the link to your DEILD guide is down.

      Hi there yuppi!

Probably a week or so before you get lucid again.
Also, since you already have the hang of it, I would say a few lucids and thats it

Dream recall will probably be the hardest, about two or so months. But eh, you know how it is and that we gotta enjoy the ride uh?

I am currently going through the same thing! I used to be okay at it, could never do anything super crazy but I had decent lucid dreams, and could get lucid a couple of times a week. I stopped for around a year or more. I barely wrote in my dream journal, besides for a few entries here and there. I have very good dream recall when I write every day, to the point where I stopped because it was taking me over an hour to write down my dreams. That's the major reason I took such a long break. I had a very short lucid dream maybe once a month on average in the break.

I have started focusing on lucid dreaming a couple of days ago, on the 13th or 14th, and I had my lucid dream this morning (19th). I sorted out my sleeping schedule and started doing mindful reality checks. My lucid dream this morning was alright, pretty average compared to the ones I used to have. The control was pretty good, I was able to accomplish everything that I wanted (pushing a random button and going to an art gallery). It took a while to stabilise when I first got lucid though. My dream recall is nowhere as good as it was before but it isn't horrible either.

      I hope that helps!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it's very motivating to hear from people with in similar circumstances, and especially encouraging to hear how soon you guys managed to get back into the swing of things. Hello again Hukif, I don't know if you remember but we used to interact every now and then when I was around a few years ago. If I remember correctly your avatar used to be a goose or something like that, right? Thanks for letting me know Kaan, I've fixed the link

Hey, I just realized... your "LD count" is the same as it was 5 years ago! Is it a (non-rounded) estimate, or did you just stop updating it?

(Speaking of which, I need to update mine... and really, should start keeping a precise number again like I used to. Haven't been for like 2/3 years...)

      Its outdated.
I used a forum app to automatically count them a long time ago, so it was easy to keep track.
When I stopped using the app, stopped counting at all so yeah.

Wow, so you actually have had that many.

I'm sure you get this a lot, but I am really, really envious.
