      Turning on the lights

      Hello,
First let me say I am sorry if this belongs somewhere else I was unsure where to post it.

I have been thinking about the idea of turning on lights in your dreams and them failing to turn on. I have read some where on this site and others that trying to turn on a light and it failing to turn on it is a great RC and great way to become lucid.

My problem with this is the reason it was stated one can not turn on the light in your dream. What I read said something about the wiring and electricity being to complex for the brain and subconscious to understand. Thus the lack of light when you flip a switch. Well I have to say I have problems this.

One: What if you were an electrician? Then you would have a fare amount of knowledge of how the switch turned on the light as well as how much power was traveling the wires to do so. So would they have dreams where they can turn on the light because they know how it works?

Two: I am made to believe I can make anything happen in my dreams, on the off chance I can make my self believe it can happen.

So if I can turn into a beast from some planet I have never heard of before why can’t I simply flip a light switch believing the light is going to turn on like it has done so many times in the past and it simply turn on with no fuss?

That's not true. Your subconscious knows exactly how lights work, it knows that you flip the switch and the light's on, and that's all it needs to know.

You can. Have you tried it in a Lucid Dream?

I have to confess, no I have not tried to turn on a light while LDing because I have not had many lucid dreams that have lasted more then me realizing I was dreaming.

I have however had lots of non-lucid dreams where I have tried to turn on the lights. I remember a dream where I was running through my house trying to turn on a light but every light would not turn on. Shortly after getting to the last light switich I woke up.

But when I do have another LD, turning on a light by the switch is going to be the first mission I complete.
