I don't know if this topic has already been addressed before, it would be a lot easier to find out if there was a Search engine or something on the site. Just a suggestion.

First off, how come lucid dreaming still sounds very foreign in common society? And though people have lucid dreamt since forever, people still go 'What the deuce?!' when you tell them what a lucid dream is. What's up with that?

Also, when you master lucidity you become completely in control of dreams and can make whatever you want to happen, actually happen, knowing it isn't real, but at the same time feel the sensations of it as if it were real. My question is, has anyone considered that this could turn someone into a psychopath? Since murderers can practise murder and rapists can practise rape in their lucids, and sometimes even ordinary people can get attached to that other dimension where everything is the way they want it to be- sometimes even lose grasp with reality?
Isn't it possible that a master lucid dreamer could get seriously psychologically confused in these cases? Has it ever really happened?

Thanks for taking the time to read all that! Would appreciate some specific answers...

As waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown. These waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown.

From above a rain of ashes descends anathema. I will remain, forever will remain. From below, in my seclusion, look up to the sky to see See paper wings and watch them burn.

No, you were dreaming! You squinted really hard at the word "Search" in the upper right corner of the screen, but once it looked like "Squearch", then it looked like "sQuiRRL", then it looked like "SKooErch", and you thought "Why the hell do they have a link called "SKooErch" on their site?!

I meant to respond to your questions as well. I am actually finding that many, probably half, of the people I talk to have heard of lucid dreaming. I was talking to a group of people the other day, and someone said to a pregnant woman in the group, "If your kid has four fingers, I'll tell the kid about your morning whiskey!" (Completely a joke, the woman is very healthy is not giving her kid FAS.) I said, "No way! If your kid has four fingers, I'll tell the kid we're dreaming!" When they asked what the hell I was talking about, the woman said, "Oh my god! When I was in Hawaii last year, there were a bunch of people who were there for a conference on making decisions in their dreams. They had these weird things they'd put on their heads as they went to sleep..." So I told them about Stephen Laberge, and how those people are a small subset of the population of lucid dreamers. Overall, I have found that people are quite receptive to the ideas of lucid dreaming, as long as I don't bore them with specific stories from my own dreams. People are interested to know how to recognize they are dreaming, but most people don't really want to hear all about our dreams.

Regarding your second question, are you reading the Negative Long Term Effects Of Lucid Dreaming thread?
The new evolutionary paradigm will give us the human traits of truth, of loyalty, of justice, of freedom. These will be the manifestations of the new evolution. And that is what we would hope to see from this. That would be nice.
