      I can't scream...

It seems that whenever I have a nightmare (lucid or not) I can't scream.

I can talk and do other things but I just can't scream.

I first noticed I couldn't scream when I had that nightmare about that closet thing...I just thought that I was really scared and screamed so hard that nothing came out.
But then I noticed that in some other nightmares I had recently, I couldn't scream. They weren't really all that scary either.

Can anyone else scream or is it just me?

I really ever can't scream, and sometimes.. I can't run away. It was weird, one time I couldn't run, so I turned around and backpedaled as fast as I could.
You do this every fucking time.

In some night mares when I do try to scream it'll be like I lost my voice and can barely make any noise.

Also when I try to punch the monster my arm is very weak and moves in slow motion.

I had this problem when I was younger. I'd go to scream and something thick would be in my throat, preventing me from screaming. I could still breath, but when it got to where I couldn't scream I found I was soon unable to even talk, or whisper. That was more terrifying, to me, than the dream itself was normally.

I haven't had that problem so much anymore; I believe for me it was from a belief that No one would answer me, no one would save me even if I did scream...so something was stopping me from doing it, so I never had to face that reality.

I've felt like that many times slayer...and a alot of times when I want to scream, I'm in an open area with lots of people who seem to be oblivious to what it is that is harming me.

I've never tried screaming in an LD. But i've never done it in a regular dream before, no matter how scary or appropriate it may be.

Yeah, I had this once. Wasn't a nightmare, but I was trying to yell "increase lucidity", and it didn't work.

One cure that I've heard, is that (if you're lucid,) produce a "clear throat" pill, and eat it. haven't tried it, though.

Yup. That happens along with not being able to move.

I could see, perhaps in a lucid dream, one believes that screaming would cause them to wake up or scream in real life. This would prevent the scream.

      Makes a great dreamsign, though.

In a lucid, try shouting something instead of screaming. Shouting has never failed me.

that is funny, because remember I was screaming in my dream one night. I was scared I was screaming in my bed too, so I tried to be quiet...

Holy crap, that's exactly what happened in a nightmare I once had. It feels like you're wading through syrup, or your legs are just too weak.

On the topic of screaming, I've yelled before, but I haven't screamed in a dream. I'm a guy after all.

LMAO! I'm sorry but that is just hysterical. I can't get it out of my head, it's just one of those things where you can picture it in your mind so clearly... LOL!
