      Consistent dream characters?

Hi all. Thought I'd join to ask this question. Have any of you ever experienced certain dream characters on a consistent basis? What I mean by this isn't, "oh, there's that elusive guy with the red hat again", but dream characters that will interact with you and even go as far as acknowledging they "know" you, your history together, perhaps pick up a conversation you had together the last time you had seen each other? Really establishing a type relationship if you could call it that?

      Thanks.

it's to my understanding that a lot of people call these reoccurring dream characters "Dream Guides". There are plenty of topics posted on the subject, you should check them out

People believe different things about Dream Guides. But for certain, Dream Guides know more than the person who is guided in the dream. The Dream Guide is basically like your tutor but in the dreaming world.

Personally I believe dream guides to be a load of bologna. I almost never have people around me in dreams, only the ideas they help make. Try what you like but believe me, every thing that they know is what you know. They might make certain things possible, but that's only you bypassing the leap of faith.

pop was the one who brought up Dream Guides, not me. I was just wondering how common it is for certain dream characters to be recurring and seem as if they know a bit "more" than the average dream character because I've heard of these types of characters before, sometimes a few members here will describe one and I am just curious.

Sorry if I confused you. As for the the chances of having reoccuring intelligent dream characters that depends on you. It's not like asking what the population of some sort of animal is.

I can't really speak for everyone, just me but I wager a small bet about how uncommon they are. I would most definitely say most people have dreams that lack consistency and logic. It wouldn't be too far off the mark to pair the correalation of reoccuring dream characters with some level of lucidy. Again... how can I know just by myself? Just some thoughts.

I have consistent dream character "friends." I call them the High School DCs because they are a group of people from my waking-life high school years. Funny thing is I wasn't friends with any of them in waking life. We were more of enemies. At first when they started showing up regularly in my dreams they'd attack me, annoy me, and so on.

Eventually I told them they'd better be nice or I'd permanently kick them out of my dreams (wether I could have carried through or this threat I don't know). But they instantly became friends. Generally they remember the dreams they've been in and converstations we've had. They are really helpful. If I haven't seen them in dreams for a while we'll have a whole hugging reunion.

But I wouldn't call them dream guides because they are still pretty dumb. I have had only a handfull of experiences with DCs I'd call dream guides. But they have never turned into recurring characters. Often they reveal some cool information I didn't have conscous access to. Sometimes they promise to return, but they never do. Or at least never in their previous form. I admire people who have recurring wise dream guides.

That's pretty cool, thanks for sharing. I'm kind of looking for "original" dream characters though.

Come on people, seeker and I can't be the lone members of Dreamviews to have recurring dream buddies, can we?

I have a reoccurring dream character that I often refer to as my "dream guide" but I also have a few other reoccurring characters that I talk to, fly with, hang with and whatever else. There are a lot of characters that just seem to come and go, but the few regulars are always a pleasant surprise to see.
None of my dream characters are any one I've ever seen or met in Waking Life.
The one I refer to as my dream guide likes to change his look up a lot, but I almost always know it's him and I protest the change.
Sometimes he listens and goes back to his "normal" look, or sometimes he will be stubborn and switch it up a bunch anyways.
His character is always noticeable, no matter the change, though. I find he likes to play "zombie" from time to time as well.
But, whenever I'm in need of someone to chat with, there he is in his "normal" look.
My other characters are friendly and usually keep me company while I'm exploring dream worlds, and or whatever else I'm doing.
But, yes, I know what you mean by reoccurring dream buddies. I've got a few, but only two that I remember really well and see pretty regularly.
Don't know if that really answers your questions or not, but hope it helped!
