      Sandyman's Workbook

Already created my Dream Journal (Can't create links yet).
I don't have recurring dream signs so far and I'll review my reality checks every night before bedtime.
      Reality Checks:
      -Nose plug
-Close one eye and see if there is a nose

      Short Term Goals:
-Recall at least 1 full dream per night
      -Stabilize lucid dream
      -Fly somewhere

Oh yes, I'll use WBTB combined with MILD. It might change to just MILD depending on how much time I have.

The avatar is a fanart of the game Little Nemo: The Dream Master btw.

Hi Sandyman! Welcome I was wondering, how does your second RC work? Does the nose vanish in the dream or something? I think I might give it a try some time.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Thanks and no, the nose isn't there (There is no vanishing-part). I close one eye and look if there is a nose, if there isn't then I'm in a dream. To be honest, it is not the best RC, but the trick is that you expect that there is no nose (Hope this RC is now somewhat clear). I think I read about it in the wikibook about lucid dreaming.

Dude, I totally made a thread about that a few months ago, wondering if it would make a good RC or not! Cool that you have been utilizing it. Has it been working for you so far?

I can only tell from my experiences over a year ago (before my one year dry spell/lack of motivation), but it has worked for me (It has failed sometimes, but I think every RC'll fail sometime). I do it together with the nose plug RC, it seems to be a nice combination.

      Topic:
No dream recall at all! >.<
I didn't even hear my alarm clock for WBTB. It could be that the long train ride was a bit exhausting. I also make RCs very irregularly, thinking about combining RCs with a common event.

Sorry the train ride wiped you out. At least you got some deep sleep, so you should be well rested enough to try again tonight!

And you're right, every RC has the potential to fail. I'm just still so excited to find someone else who has been trying the nose visibility thing. I made a post about it before and folks were like "Nuh uh, no way, won't work."

So anyway, what common event do you mean to combine with your RCs? Just curious.

I don't know yet, maybe walking through a door frame or something like that. It should be a regular event so that I get in the habit of doing RCs regularly.

Managed to recall a fragment of a dream. It seems that I was still exhausted from the day before, because I couldn't concentrate on the MILD and was pretty fast asleep. Admittedly the WBTB was half-arsed, I only went to the toilet and then straight to the bed.

After reflecting on my RCs today I realized that my RC rate drops during midday and then sky rockets at night. I think I'll combine the RCs with looking at the time, because that's something I do constantly.

I like the clock idea. I do the same thing, because I'm constantly looking at the time too. Especially at work.

Hope you're able to get some more sleep

It seems that my dream recall is improving, because this morning I remembered fragments of a dream, but no lucid dream (Or maybe a forgotten lucid dream fragment). I WBTBed (I know, not a real verb) for about 30 minutes. I'll increase the time span to 45 minutes and see how it goes.

It's neat isn't it? Although I'm struggling to marry them together. Who would've thought that combining two habits results in work.

I'm not sure a longer WBTB is what you need. Dream recall doesn't improve just because you make your WBTB longer.
Spend more time focussing on your dreams when you wake up. Most likely, your problem has to do with thinking about something else immediately upon waking up or moving too much. I'm not sure why, but moving too much (especially sitting upright) upon waking up and thinking about things other than dreams upon waking really does recall no justice.

I thought I would increase my chance of gaining lucidity with increasing the time span or is it preferable to just focus on my dream recall and shouldn't worry too much about LDs yet?

I can already see that holding still and just think about dreams will be a bit difficult, because there are about a thousand distracting thoughts inside my head, waiting to be thought, but it's a good discipline exercise.

Oh Man, another night with no recall. I laid there for a half an hour and nothing would come. Maybe something will pop up over the course of the day. On the positive side I can say that my RC rate has increased.

Ah, my bad. I thought you were trying to increase recall with the expanded time. For lucidity, i guess it can be up to the individual.. but I think it's not quite how long it is, it's more so what you do within that time. Bugger about the no recall tonight :/ Do you have any apple juice? Perhaps you could have some of that before bed tonight I know apple juice can really make my dreams a lot more vivid and that helps with recall.

It's no biggie, already excited what this night will bring (Hopefully something). Apple juice is ready, let's see how this will work out.

Remembered a dream and a very, very little fragment of another one. Seems like family members are a dream sign, because I don't see them regularly (Could be awkward when I see them in RL and question their reality).

Yeah that could be awkward. You could try sticking your finger through THEIR palms. Or plug their noses and ask them to breath through their nose. Might be good for some laughs

I'm glad you recalled some dreams though. And noticed another potential dream sign.

      xD

      This scenario just popped up:
I do a RC on a family member.
      Family member:"What are you doing"
      Me:"Questioning reality"

Another day another dream recalled. The long slide is actually something I remember from my childhood, as far as I can remember it was always there for long distance travel. The slide itself felt long, but I don't know how long it really is. Also I think my old class mates are another dream sign, because I've had this dream several times where I sit in my old class (usually it involves a test or a homework I haven't made).

Excellent work on the recall Sandyman.

Question for you: at the end of your journal entry, you mentioned that you tried to "chain the dream". And then you said you may have succeeded. Were you lucid? Just wondering.
