      Where do I start?

Where exactly do I start the road to having lucid dreams, I have read about them, and they sound amazing, I'd like to try it, from what I understand it takes quite a while for someone to have their first dream, but I don't understand where I'm supposed to start.

      Welcome to the forums!

You're already on the road by joining DV. You can try Puffin's DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dream) guide, it started me off on the right foot and broke my misconception that I should be doing constant reality checks

Eh, I much rather prefer BillyBob's and Mzzkc's tutorials. >.> TBH, I'm not a fan of Puffin's vendetta against RC's.

View Profile: BillyBob - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource Here's his profile.

      Good luck!

The first thing you should do is buy a dream journal and start writing your dreams down, this improves your dream recall drastically.

If you don't want to buy a journal, you can always just grab a sheet of looseleaf and a pen, and record the dreams you have that way. Your recall's best right when you wake up, so just relax in bed for a few moments and see if you can remember anything substantial. Write it all down.

The first place you should look is the Dreamviews wiki. In there, the tutorials I'd recommend reading are DILD, sleep paralysis, and WILD (sleep paralysis and the WILD technique go together). I have my own guide for DILD as well, it's helped a lot of people who weren't making headway with the dreamviews tutorial.

As you said, everyone has their first LD at a different time, so even if you feel like you're not getting anywhere, don't get discouraged.

If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM to me, another dream guide, or any other member you think could help.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

So what I understand as of now, is basically, in my life a few times a day, just look around, and question everything, is everything normal? Is it distorted? I need to keep a dream journal so I can start remembering more dreams (I don't remember them very often), perform a reality check every time I wake up and go to sleep, and do the digital clock reality check anytime I see one.
Is that about right to get me on the road to my first LD?
EDIT: And also RC anytime I see something unusual.
