      Hey, this is an introduction!

Hello, my name is Elīza and I'm from Latvia. Thought I should introduce myself since this is one of the few forums that I plan to be actually active on, not just lurk. I've yet to successfully lucid dream, but the subject itself is fascinating to me, so is sleep in general. I'm currently keeping a dream journal that I plan to eventually re-write here, since that'd help to note my dream signs. So far I can only hazily recognize that I'm dreaming and shift the dream into another direction/wake up if I'm having a nightmare. But hopefully that is soon to change and I hope this site will be of help!

I'm currently 17 and in high school, when I finish I plan to go to med school and eventually become a psychiatrist. I think that lucid dreaming and exploring your own subconscious go hand in hand! Other than psychology my interests include horror, literature, photography and the paranormal. If you feel that we could have an interesting conversation - don't hesitate to message me, I'm pretty friendly.

Welcome to the forums! It's great that you've already started a dream journal, it's a vital part to lucid dreaming. Be sure to read up on the many guides here and find an induction technique that works best for you. I myself started out by having nightmares, recognizing they were dreams and then waking myself up, and it's easy to go from there. If you have any questions the people here are extremely friendly and will be happy to answer any question you have so don't be shy . Good luck and the number one thing i can say is to not give up!

Thanks for the warm welcomes, everyone!

As for techniques I'm alternating between WILD and DILD and feel that I'm getting pretty close to having a completely controlled LD. I should improve the frequency of my reality checks though.

      Welcome to Dreamviews, Eliza!

This is the only forum I'm really active on... I guess I was hooked the moment I joined, haha. Since you're already keeping a dream journal and are working on reality checks, I'll suggest making sure that when you RC, be sure to really question whether you can be dreaming or not, and not just go through the motions. The more you slow down and stop what you're doing, to look around, be mindful and do reality checks, the more likely you are to have a lucid.

If you have any questions about the forum or LDing in general, feel free to ask! n_n
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
