      Greetings/Dream Recall help

      Hi everbody

Thought i'd introduce myself frst. I'm a student, just finished my second year at keele university studying for a Biochemistry & Philosophy degree. My hobbies are pretty much anything nerdy, I read books and watch films alot, enjoy video games and have recently got back into a childhoob hobby of mine, the card game and Magic: The gathering. I first discovered Lucid dreaming completely by accident a few years ago, when I realised half way through a dream that I was in a dream and just after thinking "Wow! This is going to be awsome!", I completely forgot that I was dreaming Fastforward to a few weeks ago and I was in a book shop and found a book on lucid dreaming going dirt cheap, and how i'm hooked I've yet to have a lucid dream (on purpose anyway), and my first LD goal is to perform on-stage with KISS

My first step to achieve a DILD is improving my dream recall, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere with it. I've been using the technique of repeatedly tellnig myself that "I will remeber my dreams" until I fall asleep, and staying still after I wake to help with dream recall, but so far my dream journal just been lying by the side of my bed becuase I haven't got anything to put it in. I've also put an alarm on a few hours before I normally wake up but i've so far slept right through it. I've never really remember that many dreams, but I'm a little disappointed that i've made no progress at all after a week of annoyingly sound sleep, so I figured I should get some more help on the matter.

So good people, any tips or techniques to help me out? I know I should be more patient but i've not even bugun to master the basics AND I JUST WANT TO LD SO BADLY

Your timing is probably a little off. Try moving your alarm 15 minutes earlier or later until it is easy to wake up. It sounds like you are a deep sleeper. If you alarm is going off when you are in a deep sleep cycle, it can be hard to wake up.

If you absolutely can't wake to an alarm, try drinking a glass of water before bed. As long as you don't normally wet the bed, your full bladder should inspire you to get out of bed midway through the night.

That is absolute genius i'll have to try that, but it may not be needed, as last night I remember my dream. Actually it was 2 dreams, but one of them was so short i'm not sure if it was just the same dream that evolved into something competely different. I woke up an hour before my alarm was set to go off, so i think you're timing point is probably true. The problem is that I often take a long time to fall asleep but not always, which makes judging when to set my alarm difficult. I'm hopefully past my recall prblems but if I run into them again i'm sure to use that water tactic, thanks alot Robot_Butler

Try using affirmations before bed. Like "I will remember my dreams" or what have you. Also in the mornings journal anything and everything. Whether it's a memory or an emotion. Write whatever you want.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Yeah, I agree with this. mantras before bed always seem to help me with recall. Just reread this tutorial before bed, and it should help.
