      New + have questions!

Hey guys I'm new here and I really want to lucid dream but I'm kinda nervous and I have some questions..
      1. What would be the easiest method for a beginner? I've read over all of the methods and they all have their advantages and disadvantages, but overall, what would you guys recommend? (Also include if you have any tips for this method)
      2. Is it hard to wake up once you've started dreaming, as in; if you don't want to continue the dream, could you wake up? Also is it possible to have nightmares? (on accident, not painting the nightmare yourself).

Thanks for all the help, I look forward to staying around for a while and getting used to having lucid dreams.

      1. I reccomend the MILD technique. There are many great tutorials in the wiki and im writing one as we speak.

2, yes it is possible to have accidental nightmares when lucid. But its kind of rare. And also its not normally scary because you know you are dreaming.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Welcome to Dreamviews I hope you enjoy your stay with us.

For a total beginner I would suggest sticking with DILD. You can do this during the day and it doesn't require you to do anything extra during the night. You are new to lucid dreaming so I am sure you'll be thinking about it a lot. You are bound to get a DILD unintentionally

You can wake yourself up in a dream, I think there are some tutorials on that sort of thing floating around the forum. My favourite method would have to be closing your eyes are hard as possible.
Unfortunately, yes. Sometimes a Lucid Dream can go sour. But this is rare and it shouldn't be anything to worry about!

Hell no, infact its quite the opposite.... Its usually staying IN a lucid dream thats the tricky part =P... But you shouldnt be nervous mate it literally is the best experience EVER!

      1. You should test all the techniques to find one that works for you, but, as the others said, DILD and MILD are usually considered the easiest.

      2. Nah, waking up is easy. When I want to end the dream I just close my eyes and open them quickly. Also, yes, it is possible to have lucid nightmares, but they're usually not that scary since you're lucid.

I hope you get your first lucid soon!

I agree with everyone else that MILD after a WBTB is the best method for beginners. Try to fit one in at least once or twice a week, and you will start having amazing dreams. Just try to keep lucid dreaming on your mind, question your awareness and do some reality checks whenever you remember it, and you will be lucid in no time.

It is very easy to wake from a dream if you are lucid. Most people have the opposite problem, where they wake too quickly, and have to try to work to stay in the dream.

It looks like everyone has answered your question. Just look over each technique carefully and choose one that would fit you the best. They are all great. If you have any questions feel free to message me!

      Welcome to DV. =D

Like others have already said, a MILD during a WBTB period is usually the easiest for beginners. As for nightmares, when I want to wake up during one of mine, I close my eyes, think of my physical body lying in bed, then I start kicking my legs a bit. It also helps if you keep telling yourself to wake up. Alternatively, you can also spin around on the spot. Doing so usually changes the dreamscape but you might lose lucidity if you don't keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming while you spin.
