      OBE Troubleshooting - need advice

I would first off like to say that I have had many experiences with OBE's and lucid dreams, prior to my knowledge that they were what they actually are. The funny thing is, a couple years ago I went to the doctor for my frequent migraines w/auras (as diagnosed), and my doctor asked me if I had previously had any OBE's and I had no idea what that was or meant, but I will always remember that moment.

Not until a long while after did I decide to check into what she said when I discovered that has been happening to me on and off for my whole life, its just that I would have no control over when they occurred. Many of the times I would not realize I wasn't actually awake and I would continue on with my business.

Then I would wake up and realize after the couple seconds of confusion that was an OBE. I have also always had very good dream recall while remembering fine details, which leads me to believe this should be easy for me to learn to do on command (OBE). Anyways, short story long, I ended up here and now I am trying the methods given while still taking in the vast amounts of information as I learn more and more about the topic.

So, I have been trying to use to timer method in the early morning, waking up around 4 am and dosing off to the timer. Last night I felt I should have succeeded; I woke up from the timer (after going to sleep at 4am, again.) and did not move any parts of my body and remembered not to open my eyes.. I was initially confused, I thought my eyes were open but they were closed, I was still able to see through them.

I thought I was going to be able to do the OBE for sure. To my surprise this was not the case. I still felt my body, I was not even in partial paralysis.. I thought if I continued to lie still I would be in paralysis, 5 minutes goes by and still no paralysis, just the constant uncomfortable pain I was receiving since waking up.

I was unable to sleep again in that position so I moved and then fell asleep. Can anyone share their knowledgeable insight? Thanks in advance.

      Hello Nox777

      Hi Nox777

I'm happy to see you here.

I'm sorry that Saltcube is so dead these days. But Dreamviews is anything but dead.

Here at dream views, they use Nick Newports teckniques and lots of other teckniques. I'm no help because nothing works for me. I just don't lucid dream.

But I do dream and that's good enough for me.

I met a woman on the beach once who told me that she had a rare condition that made REM sleep impossible for her. In the early 70s she comlained of allways being tired and her doctor sent her to a sleep lab and monitored here brain waves all night with an EEG.

She never went into REM. They put her on heart support tablets because for these rare souls that never go into REM, they can't "deep heal" like the rest of us and die of heart failure, young.

She was in her 60s when we spoke.

She felt very fortunate that she was picked up so early and got to live a long life.

So i'm just happy that I can REM sleep and dream even if I can't OBE or lucid dream.

Unfortunately debra this thread is about Astral Projectection, and not lucid dreaming. I think this thread's supposed to also 'officially' belong in the Beyond Dreaming section, but a mod will move it if it is

First of all congratulations! Last night you pulled off a Wake Induced Lucid Dream (WILD)! When you were lying in bed and able to see through your eyelids, you had transferred yourself into a dream, and then tried to go back to sleep! It's not uncommon for you to not feel sleep-paralysis as this happens, I've had it happen to me before. From inside a lucid dream you can induce an OBE, though quite how I'm not particularly sure. I recommend reading more into the subject, and using the projection techniques when you reach this state.

The difference between a WILD and an OBE are quite hard to discern properly over the internet, I recommend you keep reading into both subjects of Astral Projection and Lucid Dreaming, I've been interested in lucid dreaming for a long time but in my training for LDing I've started training to start AP aswell. There's an excellent 90-day guide to AP, "Mastering Astral Projection - Robert Bruce" which I'm using to train at the moment, which covers everything right from the very basics and helps you completely understand quite what's happening. If you google the title you'll easily find the free e-book to download

      Thanks for the replies.
      Dark Merlin,
So if I can see through me eyelids, should I be able to still move my physical body? I was able to do just that was this happened, perhaps I was not breathing correctly; I felt as though continuing to breathe as if I was sleeping, I was having a hard time getting oxygen.. I was probably doing it wrong or trying too hard. But anyways, once I am in this state of being able to see through my eyelids, how to I move out of my physical body? Can I just get up or do I have to teleport or what not?

This is humorous to me because when I was in highschool, I fell asleep watching a movie in class with my arms crossed on my desk and my head tucked between my arms (eyes facing the solid desk) and all of the sudden I could see through the desk, I moved my legs back and forth and was very confused that I could see my legs I still was conscious of everything around me and I was able to still see and hear the movie and the classmates around me. So I guess that was something? I just need to be persistent perhaps and not give up, seeing as I have had so many experiences before, but none intentionally
