      Wandering Mind

      Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and to the matter of Lucid Dreaming in general. I did a few nights worth of reading before starting anything and have now begun recording my dreams in a journal, currently they are vague in detail, but I'm confident this will change in time as recording them becomes more regular.

I don't tend to join many forums, I hoped doing so here might prove my commitment, to myself really (If that makes sense) to persevere with Lucid Dreaming. I also hope to learn from your experiences.

..With that out of the way, I would like to ask any of you:

When falling asleep, whether you are attemping a WILD or not, do you notice a particular moment when the thoughts you are having become less like imagining, and more like the onset of a dream? Such as the loss of control you have over it.

I feel I have a 'wandering mind' and sometimes it is hard for me to notice when I have lost control and entered a dream. sometimes I am jolted awake when I feel my thought process has gone off on such a wild tangent, and often can't decide if I had control over it doing so.

      Thanks

I don't ever really have WILDs but I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm falling asleep and all of a sudden I realize I was thinking about how I need to get my new Ferrari washed (I don't own a ferrari for the record). I notice this will happen more and more as I'm about to fall asleep and when I do fall asleep, it's because I don't ever realize how random my thoughts were.

Yeah, that's the problem. If you realize you're thinking in a "strange" way (because you're near to fall asleep), then you don't fall asleep at all. Or, at least, that's what happens to me. You have to be "nearly unconscious" to fall asleep, but when you think "Hey, I must sleep now", then you simply are too lucid to dream, and you wake up/can't sleep.
