I think there are three big advantages.
A.) Easy Filing - You can file your dreams under different categories like lucid, non-lucid, nightmare, etc. This makes it easier to keep up with how many lucids you've had, whether or not you are having success at reducing nightmares, or just better organization in general. They all also still go in you DJ in order of when you wrote them so they stay in chronological order too. This way, the files don't split them up but instead act like a quick search sorting mechanism.
B.) Tags - You can use up to ten tags to further file away your dreams. You then get a tag cloud off to the side of your dream journal. This is another good way to sort your dreams and useful for easy look-up. But the best thing about this is that it is a fantastic dream signs tool. In your tag cloud, whatever tags you use most often show up larger and at the front of the list. And as your tags change your cloud does too. So this becomes a great way to keep up with your most frequent dream signs even as they change.
C.) Backup - It's all too easy to lose a physical DJ or have it destroyed. It's simply a good idea to keep a backup.
Two things to keep in mind, if you want to make the DJ private you have to do this from your DJ Settings tab at the top of the page after you click on your DJ. Even if you do this Mods can still see it. Or, if you want to make individual entries private you do this as you make the post. However, your friends and Mods can still see it.
