      Was gonna attempt WBTB

      Hey.

I tried the WBTB last weekend and went up 4 1/2 hours after sleep. I didn't succeed to recognize that I were dreaming but my dreams got more vivid. Anyway, last night I went to bed 9.00 PM and set the alarm on 2:15 AM. I got up and did watch my hands sometimes and read lucid things on my phone. After half an hour i went back to bed. But I couldn't get asleep.

Shall I try waking up 6 hours after going to bed and stay up 30 minutes without checking my phone and only sit there thinking about lucid dreaming instead? So my melatonin levels won't drain? Or any other tips?

If you couldn't get back to sleep after staying up for 30 minutes, then shorten your WBTB time. Experiment! It doesn't have to be a long WBTB; you could just get up for a few minutes then go back to bed. It depends on how fast or slow you fall asleep.

Yeah, checking your phone isn't good for your eyes. Bright lights may be affecting your sleep and recall. I'd suggest just thinking about lucid dreaming, or set an intention as you go to sleep. Have you looked at the MILD method? You could do that as you go to sleep: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...technique.html

      Hope this helps.

I would also suggest using a dimmer light. I use a flameless candle, which does not (to my knowledge) produce blue light. I would not avoid reading about LDing, but I would suggest reading from an actual book, instead of a computer screen.

And AstralMango has a great point: experiment until you find what works! Not every night will be the same, but you will find yourself falling into patterns. Good luck!

Update: I did wake up 6 hours after falling asleep and stayed up for 15 minutes. I did fall asleep but it felt like it took around an hour. So I will test waking up 4 hours after getting asleep to see if I will be more tired.
