I dreamt of sleep paralysis and nearly got killed

I suffer from sleep paralysis. I was kinda illegally sleeping because my mom told me to get up before she left the house but I went back to sleep anyway. So while I was sleeping this morning, I heard the house door open and I tried to get up because I did not want to get caught sleeping but I couldn't no matter how hard I tried. I only managed to open my left eye and slighty lift my arm. So knowing that I was having SP, I relaxed my whole body and waited for it to go away. But this time, it felt different. I could feel something touching me while I was paralysed and I was really frightened. The worst thing was, that thing covered my nose and mouth and I couldn't breathe. I could feel my lungs burning and I was really trying to fight it. And the worst thing was, my eyes were closed. But after that, that thing released me and I could breathe.

It was only awhile later that I had a dream and then woke up. Which makes me really confused because I don't know if that SP episode was real or not. And what about being unable to breathe? Did I imagine it or what?

When you're in sleep paralysis most people report having most of the weight on their throat, chest, and stomach. I personally haven't experienced it although I've heard that SP is almost always associated with the feeling of someone in the room, so you might have associated the feeling of pressure on your throat as someone choking you. As for dreaming SP is nearly the closest you can get to be dreaming while still conscious. I hope it was only sleep paralysis, someone coming into your room and choking you temporarily would be kind of unnerving

Haha I guess you are right. I don't think there was anyone in the room but I never had this 'unable to breathe' feeling before when going through SP. Thanks for your tips.
