Lurked for a few years. Taking a more active role now.

Hello! I am not technically new to this site, as i have used Dream Views in order to read the experiences of others and for help on induction methods. I would describe myself as an intermediate lucid dreamer. I am interested in lucid dreaming from a psychological stand point; specifically the use of LDing in a therapeutic setting. I have read many stories about people conquering their fears (for me, that would be dogs) using lucid dreaming, and that sparked my curiosity as to the other uses of lucid dreaming in the treatment of mental illness. Though LDing is not exactly widely revered in the scientific community, perhaps due to its ties with astral projection (no offense my astral projecting comrades. Believe what you want to believe! Unless your beliefs tell you to harm other people. That's probably not a great sign), I believe lucid dreaming could be of great help to individual struggling with phobias or anxiety, in the same manner as exposure therapy. I should clarify that at present I am a humble Junior in High School, barely a fledgling really, but my preferred career path is definitely psychology. I am afraid I am in something of a dry-spell/rough patch, but I have been experimenting with SSILD and I am getting back on track. Any personal experiences pertaining to breaking dry spells or conquering fear would be much appreciated, though i do not believe we are in the correct forum for that. This was supposed to be my introduction, i do believe. I am excited to continue developing this most intriguing hobby alongside a like-minded community.

Awesome to have you here - would be curious to know if you succeed in conquering your fears!

      Welcome TiredJoe!

Perhaps one day you will be among the first scientists to make a structured programme to help overcome different anxiety issues and phobias. Psycology sound like a good career choice. And by the time you enter university you will probably have plenty of lucid experiences to relate to your areas of interest.

As far as dry spells are concerned, we actually have a podcast on the topic. Check out the link below. Also, you will find it in the directory with the rest of the podcasts, which, I find are a great inspiration for lucid dreams in general and can help break those dry spells.
