      Smile Hi! (funny story attached)

Hi, just found this forum yesterday googling...

I never Lucid Dreaming before, I heard people saying the they could fly and control their dreams sometimes, and I was never able to do any of that. So here goes nothing!

Read a little bit about the "Starter Tips" and tried to recite the mantra before sleeping, also did a quick reality check by counting my fingers and trying to touch the palm of the hand with my thumb. Thing is, I remember dreaming that I was walking in the street near home that I always walk by when I go to work! And in the dream I did the same RC and nothing out of the ordinary happened! Haha I counted my fingers to 10 and couldn't "pierce" my hand using my other thumb... so in the dream I didn't know I was dreaming and only realized that after waking up! Weird huh?

Anyways, I'll continue practicing and try to LD.

      Cheers!

Welcome to the forum and welcome to lucid dreaming!
What a great hobby you've picked to pursue, it's so much fun and addicting when you start to really get into it.

I've had a similar problem with the hand reality checks as well. One fun thing about learning to lucid dream is discovering what works for you. I personally use the nose plug or epiglottis block RC (where you plug your nose with your hand and then try to breathe in through your nose, and where you block your throat internally and then try to breathe in, respectively - if you can breathe in while your air passage is blocked, then you're dreaming!). I prefer the nose plug one but the epiglottis block RC is good if you want to be stealthier.

But that's great that you've already gotten so close to having a lucid dream, it's fantastic in fact! I'm sure that at that rate you'll be lucid dreaming very soon. If you have any questions about lucid dreaming, feel free to send me a private message, good luck!
