Talking Trying to get back into it

Hi, back again. I've been here before last year and I want to get back into LDing. I stopped as I started getting lazy as anything and wouldn't write my dreams down. I used to try to do whatever I could but nothing would work, if anyone has any tips it would be most appreciated, thanks!

      Hi,
I'm in a very similar situation. I started getting into LD a couple of years back, mainly because it interested me, but also as I was experiencing a lot of nightmares and I thought having control over my dreams would help me. Which it did.
Then my wife had a baby, so for about 10 months we weren't getting more than 4-6 hours of sleep a night, which meant dreamless nights most of the time.
For the last 6-7 months, since baby started sleeping through the night most of the time, I have just been too tired to keep a dream journal and I haven't been consistent.

I don't have many tips - but I do find that thinking about LD and doing reality checks during the day can really help. Over the last 1.5 years (since baby arrived), I still had a number of LD simply because I thought about LD quite a lot and this resulted in a few DILD. Often I would just say to myself "this looks odd - let's do a RC" or maybe I would happen to be readying a street sign or my watch which gave it away...

Other than that, I am planning on re-reading some of the books on LD I have and to slowly start writing in my DJ again as I would like to begin LD more often again.
      Good luck!

      back zxechoo09 and clumsydreamer!

Those are some good tips, clumsydreamer. Thinking about dreams, keeping a dream journal, reading and posting on the forum or reading books, having good sleep schedule and right state of mind and practicing a method is great way to make sure you are doing everything you can to get a LD.

If you guys have not read these tutorials yet, here is a link to DILD, WILD, Reality checks, DEILDs and more:

Please let us know if we can help with anything.

      Happy dreams

Some random tips that help me a lot :
      - Go to bed normally and only after 4-6 hours of sleep begin your attempts at having lucid dreams. That way You'll have plenty of good sleep before you start messing with your natural sleeping habits. But if you're worried you might fall asleep again you can set an intention like : " When the alarm goes off, I will stay awake."
      - During reality checks imagine and try to get the feeling ( unique to everyone ) of how it would feel like to become lucid right now.
      - Always do a reality check when waking up, so if you happen to have a false awakening you'll catch it and you'll get a lucid dream.
      - Write down all the worries you might have and place them on your table. The worries are for tomorrow. The night is all for the lucid dream attempt.
      - Don't try to force yourself to sleep, that's impossible.

I too have been going through this phase of laziness and am getting back into lucid dreaming. I'm having a hard time with my busy schedule remembering to document my dreams in a journal and so I believe my awareness within dreams is suffering. Even with doing reality checks 10-20 times a day I am rarely having the briefest lucid dreams. I would recommend for you to read the following books, both of which have helped me in immeasurable ways and I'll be refreshing on their material myself:

      • A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming
      • Advanced Lucid Dreaming: The Power of Suppliments

I also have extensive notes typed out with all of the main points for both of these books and I may share my notes on this forum at a later time. This is my first post and I still need to familiarize myself.
